The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at 7:00
p.m. at the Senior Activities Center, 421 Church Street, Grapevine, Texas with the
following members present, to wit:
David Benedetto
Ray Harris
John Dalri
Roy Robertson
Ryan Wade
Larry Francis
Tyler Johnson
Shane Wilbanks
Absent

Doug Evans Joe Moore
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairperson Larry Francis. A motion was
made by David Benedetto and seconded by John Dalri to approve the April 17, 2003
minutes. The motion passed unanimously.
Old Business
A. Discussion regarding Corps of Engineers property in Grapevine
COE Report: - Tickets are being written at boat ramps
• Feasibility Study — Met with lake businesses and will meet with downtown
business owners in coming weeks.
• Meadowmere Park opened with $1 per person entry fee.
• Fees — Entrance to parks is $1, annual boat ramp passes for non-residents
changed to $35 for seniors and disabled.
• Dealers tags for launching was discussed.
New Business
A. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Road agreement with the Grapevine Dirty Dozen
for Ira E. Woods Avenue, from Main Street to Lancaster Drive
A motion was made by Ryan Wade and seconded by David Benedetto to approve the
agreement with the Grapevine Dirty Dozen for Ira E. Woods Avenue, from Main Street to
Lancaster Drive. The motion passed with Larry Francis abstaining.
B. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Road agreement with Wagon Wheel/KBET for Ruth
Wall Street, from Northwest Highway to Opryland
A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Ray Harris to approve the
agreement with Wagon Wheel/KBET for Ruth Wall Street, from Northwest Highway to
Opryland. The motion passed unanimously.
C. Update on the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Games of Texas
Doug Evans gave a report on the Games of Texas.
D. Discuss the June 5th Grand Opening of the Mills Run Trail
VII. Miscellaneous Board Reports
• Tyler Johnson asked about 911 service phone systems in parks.
• Roy Robertson reported that Earthworks was a big success.
• Ray Harris reported that the Hound Dog Hustle had over 600 runners and was a big
success.
VIII. Miscellaneous Staff Reports
• The 25'h Anniversary of the Senior Activities Center is May 30`h from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00
p.m.
• The DFW Directors Programming Award was given to the Fraternal Order of Plaid
Shirts Society (FOPS).
• Trail Reports — Parr Park Trail, Rose Cliff Terrace Trail section, Big Bear Creek Trail,
Oak Grove Trail, Meadowmere Trail, Mills Run Trail.
• Parr Park — The drainage system was installed.
• Oak Grove Soccer Concessions Stand had improvements made to make it more
inviting.
Motion was made by John Dalri and seconded by Ryan Wade to adjourn. The motion
passed unanimously. Time: 8:55 p.m.

VII. Old Business
A. Discussion regarding the Corps of Engineers property in Grapevine
Staff will update the Board on what is happening at the Corps property and
the status of the feasibility study.
B. Discussion regarding the schedule for the Games of Texas
Staff will go over the schedule for the Games of Texas and what
opportunities are available for Board Members.
VIII. New Business
A. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Road agreement with the Vinz Family for
Pool Road from Hall -Johnson to Barberry Road
The Board originally approved the agreement with the Vinz Family in April of
2001. Staff recommends approval.
B. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Road agreement with the Goldberg Family
for Silvercrest Lane
The Board originally approved the agreement with the Goldberg Family in
April of 1999. Staff recommends approval.
B. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Road agreement with the McCracken Family
for Kimball Road from Silvercrest Lane to Snakev Lane
The Board originally approved the agreement with the McCracken Family in
June of 1997. Staff recommends approval.
