DIR TOR OF PARKS & RECREATION CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Thursday, June 19, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at the Senior Activities Center, 421 Church Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to wit: Roy Robertson David Benedetto Ray Harris 7 Barbara Johnson Absent: �' -- - Larry Francis . Fiona iga a E.` mil Doug Evans Guests: Harlan Friedman The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Recognition of New Board Members John Dalri Margie Mitchell Tyler Johnson Debra Tridico Stan Hinson Joe Moore New board members Debra Tridico and Barbara Johnson introduced themselves to everyone. Current board members went around the table and introduced themselves to the new members. Shane Wilbanks thanked everyone for their time and commitment. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by David Benedetto and seconded by Margie Mitchell to approve the May 13, 2003 minutes. The motion passed unanimously. Citizen Requests Harlan Friedman asked about Law Enforcement for restrooms in parks as far as graffiti. Recognition of service for outgoing Board Members A Presentation Award was given to Terry Allen for his tenure on the Park Board for the last 2 years. Old Business A. Discussion regarding Corps of Engineers property in Grapevine Doug Evans gave a report on COE property. Revenues are consistent and slightly ahead of projections. Expenditures are within budget. City staff of 4 have been diligent in providing repairs to lake amenities. Boat ramp violation tickets have resulted in a high percent being dismissed by buying an annual pass. B. Discussion regarding the schedule for the Games of Texas Doug Evans updated Board on Games of Texas event; VIP room, volunteer opportunities, etc. New Business A. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Road agreement with the Vintz Family A motion was made by John Dalri and seconded by Barbara Johnson to approve the agreement with the Vintz Family for Pool Road, from Hall Johnson to Barberry Road. The motion passed unanimously. B. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Road agreement with the Goldberg Family A motion was made by John Dalri and seconded by Roy Robertson to approve the agreement with the Goldberg Family for Silvercrest Lane. The motion passed unanimously. C. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Road agreement with the McCracken Family A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Margie Mitchell to approve the agreement with the McCracken Family for Kimball Road, from Silvercrest Lane to Snakey Lane. The motion passed unanimously. Miscellaneous Staff Reports • Ray Harris made a request to have the Board consider an earlier meeting time. Discussion will be on next month's agenda. • Trail Projects — Joe Moore gave an update: Oak Grove, Big Bear Creek, Meadowmere and Mills Run Trails. Also announced the National Trails Symposium awarded to Texas for October 2004. • Doug Evans explained the hiring process to fill Recreation Superintendent position. • Harlan Friedman complimented Recreation staff on the Triathlon. • Shane Wilbanks commented on budget process — Sacrifices will have to be made. Presentation of the financial and participation reports from the Grapevine Youth Baseball Association, Grapevine Girls Softball Association, Grapevine Pee Wee Football Association and the Grapevine/Southlake Soccer Association Included in your packets are the reports that were available to staff when the packets were mailed to you. Members of each of the associations have been invited to the meeting to explain the reports and to answer any questions the Board Members may have. B. Discussion regarding the meeting time for the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Board Member Ray Harris asked that this be put on an agenda for discussion.
