The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Thursday, August 21, 2003 at
6:00 p.m. at the Bessie Mitchell Meeting Facility, 411 Ball Street, Grapevine, Texas with
the following members present, to wit:

The meeting was called to order at 6:10 p.m.
Approval of Minutes

A motion was made by Ray Harris and seconded by Barbara Johnson to approve the
July 17, 2003 minutes. The motion passed unanimously.
Introduction of New Members ,
Introductions of the new GCISD -Beat Liaison, Vicki Thomas, and the new Recreation
Superintendent, Chris Smith, were made.
Election of Officers
Nominations for the election of officers for FY 2003-2004 were opened. Nominations
were opened for Chairperson. Margie Mitchell nominated Larry Francis and the motion
was seconded by Barbara Johnson. Nominations were closed and Larry Francis was
elected by acclamation.
Nominations were opened for Vice Chairperson. Roy Robertson nominated Ray Harris
and the motion was seconded by Margie Mitchell. Ray Harris nominated John Dalri and
the motion was seconded by Debra Tridico. Nominations were closed. A written ballot
was collected and Ray Harris was elected.
Nominations were opened for Secretary. Ray Harris nominated David Benedetto and it
was seconded by Debra Tridico. Nominations were closed and David Benedetto was
elected by acclamation.
Old Business
Doug Evans gave a report and thanked all Board members who helped make the 2003
Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Games such a huge success. There were 9,844
participants.
New Business
A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Barbara Johnson to renew an
Adopt -A -Road application with the Grapevine American Business Club (AMBLICS) for
Main Street, from SH 114 to Northwest Highway. The motion passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Margie Mitchell to have the
annual parks tour on October 18th from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A continental breakfast,
lunch and drinks will be provided. The motion passed unanimously.
Miscellaneous Board Reports
Roy Robertson reported:
➢ 1) Gates at end of Lakeview Park wiped out.
➢ 2) Lakeview — check on locks on gates.
➢ 3) Tree limbs at bathrooms broken.
Ray Harris reported:
➢ 1) Hotlink to Girls Softball.
➢ 2) Hotlink on trail description on website to Mapquest.

• West Nile Virus — Doug Evans and Joe Moore gave a report on the status of the
West Nile Virus
Ray Harris asked about the status of a dog park. Research is ongoing.
Motion was made by Stan Hinson and seconded by Debra Tridico to adjourn. The
motion passed unanimously. Time: 7:26 p.m.
