Discussion regarding Corps of Engineers property in Grapevine Staff will update the Board on the status of the feasibility study VI. New Business A. Discussion regarding the day and time for the Board meetings The Board will discuss the day and time of the meetings and decide if there are other days and/or times that would be best to meet. B. Consider approval of an Adopt -A -Road application with CareerSurge for Dove Road, from Kimball Road to Park Boulevard A copy of the application is attached for review. Staff recommends approval. C. Consider approval of an Adopt -A -Park application with the Neill Familv for Bia Bear Creek Nature Preserve The area was formerly adopted by the Creekwood West Homeowner's Association but they are no longer active. Mr. Craig Neill was the contact with the association and his family would like to adopt the nature preserve. A copy of the application is attached. Staff recommends approval. D. Presentation of the trail system in Grapevine and discussion reaardina the followina trails • Parr Park Trail drainage problems • Alignment of the Oak Grove Trail • Completion of the Dove Loop Trail Staff will go over maps of the trail system in Grapevine and discuss with the Board drainage problems with the Parr Park Trail. Staff will also go over the alignment of the Oak Grove Trail, especially the section by the baseball fields. Finally, staff will discuss with the Board a section of the Dove Loop Trail that needs to be designed and completed that is east of Dooley Street. E. Appointment of a Liaison to Keep Grapevine Beautiful This item was on the November 2003 agenda for consideration but the Board tabled this item until the January meeting. CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Thursday, November 20, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bessie Mitchell Meeting Facility, 411 Ball Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to wit: Larry Francis Ray Harris Roy Robertson Debra Tridico Barbara Johnson Absent John Dalri Staff: Doug Evans Joe Moore The meeting was called to order at 6:03 p.m. Approval of Minutes Margie Mitchell Stan Hinson David Benedetto Vicki Thomas Shane Wilbanks Tyler Johnson A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Margie Mitchell to approve the September 18, 2003 minutes. The motion passed unanimously. Old Business Doug Evans updated the Board on the feasibility study on the Corps of Engineers property in Grapevine. New Business A motion was made by David Benedetto and seconded by Barbara Johnson to renew an Adopt -A -Road application with the Western Oaks III Homeowners Association for Western Oaks Drive, from SH 121 to Heritage Avenue and River Oaks Drive, from Western Oaks Drive to Oak Ridge Park. The motion passed unanimously. A motion was made by Barbara Johnson and seconded by Debra Tridico to renew an Adopt -A -Road application with the Sark Family for Dove Road, from Panhandle Court to Kimball Road. Shane Wilbanks Trail, from Dove Loop to Dove Road. The motion passed unanimously. A motion was made by David Benedetto and seconded by Margie Mitchell to approve an Adopt -A -Trail application with Jean Titus for a portion of the C. Shane Wilbanks Trail, from Dove Road to Kimball Road. The motion passed unanimously. A motion was made by David Benedetto and seconded by Margie Mitchell to table the appointment of a Liaison to Keep Grapevine Beautiful until the next meeting. The motion passed unanimously. A motion was made by David Benedetto and seconded by Margie Mitchell to cancel the December Park Board Meeting due to the holidays. The motion passed unanimously. Miscellaneous Board Reports Vicki Thomas reported on turning the old Grapevine High School field house into a Fine Arts Center. A future bond issue is being discussed. Barbara Johnson requests the Board to visit the Torian Cabin. Miscellaneous Staff Reports • Joe Moore reported on the bids and schedule for the Big Bear Creek Trail. • Joe Moore reported on the specifications status of the Oak Grove Trail. • Doug Evans reported on the Carol of Lights to be December 151 at Town Square Gazebo at 7:00 p.m. • Parade of Lights is to be December 4th at 7:00 p.m. • Youth basketball teams are over 100 teams. • Doug Evans reported on miscellaneous park improvements: ➢ Pecan Park— New play equipment Hazy Meadows Park — New play equipment • Doug Evans reported on the proposed Coca-Cola Contract. Coca-Cola will provide equipment and amenities. • Joe Moore reported on Keep Grapevine Beautiful activities for the past year and the year to come. • Doug Evans reported on Games of Texas which will include Sailing at Lake Grapevine and Extreme Games in Grand Prairie.
