The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Thursday, January 22, 2004 at
6:00 p.m. at the Senior Activities Center, 421 Church Street, Grapevine, Texas with the
following members present, to wit:

Adam Tridico to observe a public meeting for Boy Scouts
The meeting was called to order at 6:11 p.m.
Approval of Minutes
A motion was made by Stan Hinson and seconded by John Dalri to approve the
November 20, 2003 minutes. The motion passed unanimously.
Chris Smith was introduced as the new Recreation Superintendent.
Old Business
Doug Evans updated the Board on the Corps of Engineers property concept plan. The
full Council is to see the proposal at a workshop on February 3rd.
New Business
The time of the Board meetings was discussed. A motion was made by Stan Hinson
and seconded by Barbara Johnson to move the time for the Park Board meetings from
6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
The day of the month for the Board meetings was also discussed. A motion was made
by Debra Tridico and seconded by John Dalri to continue to have the meetings on the
third Thursday of the month. The motion passed unanimously.
A motion was made by David Benedetto and seconded by Barbara Johnson to approve
an Adopt -A -Road application with CareerSurge for Dove Road, from Kimball Road to
Park Boulevard. The motion passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Debra Tridico to approve an
Adopt -A -Road application with the Neill Family for Big Bear Creek Nature Preserve.
The motion passed unanimously.
Joe Moore gave a presentation on upcoming trail projects with regard to Parr Park
drainage problems, Oak Grove Trail and Dove Loop Trail.
John Dalri volunteered to be the Keep Grapevine Beautiful liaison. A motion was made
by David Benedetto and seconded by Stan Hinson to approve John Dalri as the Keep
Grapevine Beautiful liaison. The motion passed unanimously.
Debra Tridico volunteered to be the alternate for Keep Grapevine Beautiful. A motion
was made by Barbara Johnson and seconded by Roy Robertson to approve Debra
Tridico as the alternate for Keep Grapevine Beautiful. The motion passed unanimously.
Miscellaneous Staff Reports
• Colleyville High School — Tyler Johnson reported that the Colleyville Heritage High
School Prom needs money and asked to use a facility for free for a fundraiser.
Daddy/Daughter Dance — Volunteers are needed starting at 6:30 p.m. Volunteers
are Doug Evans, Joe Moore, Larry Francis, Roy Robertson, Ray Harris, and Debra
Tridico.
Misc. park improvements — Hazy Meadows and Pecan Park had improvements
done, primarily to meet ADA requirements. Old equipment is being sent to our sister
city in Mexico.
• 2004 Games of Texas — The GOT will begin 6 months from today, July 22, 23, 24
and 25. Barbara Johnson volunteered to help.
• Keep Grapevine Beautiful — The Household Hazardous Waste Collection event will
be March 6th at the Service Center.
• Doug Evans announced that the TRAPS Region 2 and 3 Conference will be held in
Grapevine on Friday, November 17th at the Community Activities Center and the
Embassy Suites. The Board was encouraged to make plans to attend.
Motion was made by John Dalri and seconded by Stan Hinson to adjourn. The motion
passed unanimously. Time: 7:31 p.m.

V. Old Business
A. Presentation of the Feasibility Study of the Corps of Engineers property in
Grapevine
Staff will present the plan to the Board.
VI. New Business
A. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Park application with the Bear Creek Disc
Golfers for the Big Bear Creek Disc Golf Course
This group let the last agreement expire because they could not find
someone to take responsibility for the program. However, Mr. Caleb Randall
met with staff and said that he would take over as the representative for the
group.
B. Discuss the Wedding and Reception Policy
Included in your packets are copies of the policy and a usage report of the
Bessie Mitchell Meeting Facility and the Botanical Gardens. The City Council
indicated that staff should look at the number of weddings allowed and see
if the City could expand the usage.
