Consider approval of an Adopt -A -Park application from the Grapevine Garden Club for the Botanical Gardens at Heritage Park C. New Business A. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Park application from Jay Young Photography for the trails and the southern part of the park area of Bear Creek Park A copy of the application is attached for review. The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board initially approved the agreement with Jay Young Photography on May 30, 1996. Staff recommends approval. B. Consider approval of an Adopt -A -Park application from the Lake Forest Boat Club for the Lake Grapevine shoreline from Lakeview Park to the Lake Forest Boat Club at McPherson Slough A copy of the application is attached for review. Staff recommends approval. C. Consider approval of an Adopt -A -Park application from the Ranch of Lonesome Dove for Meadowmere Park Road from Kimball Road to the boat ramp at Meadowmere Park A copy of the application is attached for review. Staff recommends approval. D. Brief discussion regarding background checks for youth athletic associations Staff discussed this issue with the City Attorney and will give the Board a report on the issue. CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Thursday, August 19, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bessie Mitchell Meeting Facility, 411 Ball Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to wit: Larry Francis John Dalri Debra Tridico Leon Leal (6:24) Absent Margie Mitchell Vicki Thomas Guest: David Booher Staff: Doug Evans The meeting was called to order at 6:04 p.m. Approval of Minutes Roy Robertson Ray Harris Barbara Johnson Shane Wilbanks Susan Pittman Joe Moore A motion was made by John Dalri and seconded by Roy Robertson to approve the July 28, 2004 minutes. The motion passed unanimously. Election of Officers Nominations for the election of officers for FY 2004-2005 were opened. Nominations were opened for Chairperson. Roy Robertson nominated Larry Francis. Debra Tridico made the motion to close nominations and it was seconded by John Dalri. Nominations were closed and Larry Francis was elected by acclamation. Nominations were opened for Vice Chairperson. Debra Tridico nominated Ray Harris. Barbara Johson made the motion to close nominations and it was seconded by John Dalri. Nominations were closed and Ray Harris was elected by acclamation. Nominations were opened for Secretary. Ray Harris nominated John Dalri. Roy Robertson made the motion to close nominations and it was seconded by Debra Tridico. Nominations were closed and Ray Harris was elected by acclamation. Old Business Joe Moore gave an update on the Meadowmere Park Trail, Oak Grove Trail and the Big Bear Creek Trail. New Business A motion was made by Barbara Johnson and seconded by John Dalri to renew an Adopt -A -Park application with the Cochran Family for the west side of Parr Park, including the hike and bike trail. The motion passed unanimously. A motion was made by Debra Tridico and seconded by Barbara Johnson to approve an Adopt -A -Park application with Grapevine Garden Club for the Botanical Gardens at Heritage Park. The motion passed unanimously. Doug Evans reported on the Games of Texas Wrap -Up Meeting. A full economic impact report will be distributed in the coming weeks along with the numbers of athletes and spectators report. Miscellaneous Board Reports Roy Robertson reported: Y 1) Horseshoe Trails, Dove Road parking lot. ➢ 2) Must clean up trail. ➢ 3) Erosion along trail from heavy rains. Y 4) Sidewalk west of Horseshoe Trails entrance. Leon Leal reported: 1) Youth background checks - Grapevine Youth Baseball is looking at Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board to require checks. Miscellaneous Staff Reports • Keep Grapevine Beautiful to receive $300 - $400 per month from sale of old plants from Gaylord Texan flowerbeds. • Dodge Ball Tournament had 32 teams with 250 spectators. • Doug Evans announced the 17th National Trails Symposium and offered for the Board to attend.
