New Business B. Consider the donation of approximately 30 acres of parkland at Big Bear Creek and W. D. Tate Avenue from the Farrar Family The Board will consider the donation of the approximately 30 acres of parkland from the Farrar Family. Qv L�� DI TOR OF PARKS & RECREATION CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 6:30 p.m. at the Bessie Mitchell Meeting Facility, 411 Ball Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to wit: Larry Francis Roy Robertson Margie Mitchell John Dalri Absent: Barbara Johnson Staff: Doug Evans Debra Tridico Leon Leal Ray Harris Vicki Thomas (arrived 6:42) Susan Pittman Joe Moore The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chairperson Larry Francis. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Ray Harris and seconded by John Dalri to approve the minutes of the March 17, 2005 meeting. Motion passed unanimously. Citizen Comments Debbie Robinson, 1402 Tiffany Forest Lane, President of Girls Softball Association, had comments on the following: Would like one lighted field for them to play on Asking for consideration to have more fields 180'— 200' fields are requested. Worked with Grapevine Youth Baseball Asking that more fields be shared by Grapevine Youth Baseball Major tournament planned during Main Street Days — marketed nationally Old Business Joe Moore gave an update on the design of Silver Lake Campground. Rates and overall cost is under consideration. Exterior of RR buildings to be researched. Doug Evans gave an update on naming the roads and boat ramps. The proposal has been reviewed by Fire, Police, and the Facilities Committee. Shane Wilbanks asked to highlight major ramps away from residents. A motion was made by Debra Tridico and seconded by Margie Mitchell to approve the proposed name changes for the Lake Park roads as submitted. Motion passed unanimously. New Business A motion was made by Leon Leal and seconded by John Dalri to recommend Sarah Waldrop as Student Liaison to the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board. Motion passed unanimously. A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Debra Tridico to accept the donation of approximately 30 acres of parkland from the Farrar Family. Motion passed unanimously. Miscellaneous Board Reports • The upcoming Bond program is to be presented at the next Board meeting. Vote on this. Miscellaneous Staff Reports • Joe Moore reported on progress of Big Bear Creek Trail and Oak Grove Trail. • Joe Moore reported on OKAD on April Stn and 10tH • Joe Moore reported on Keep Grapevine Beautiful. A motion was made by John Dalri and seconded by Margie Mitchell to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously. Time: 7:09 p.m. RECORDING SECRETARY — Joe Moore, Asst. Director DIRE R OF PARKS AND RECREATION CHAI OF THE BOARD V. New Business A. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Road agreement with Wagon Wheel Ranch for Ruth Wall Street — from SH 26 to the maintenance entrance to the Gaylord Texan The application is attached for review. Due to the Ruth Wall being under construction over the past couple of years, Wagon Wheel Ranch did not pick up litter. However, now that construction is complete, they would like to begin picking up litter again. Staff recommends approval. B. Consider amending Chapter 16, Section 16-2 of the Grapevine Code of Ordinances relating to the student ex -officio member of the Parks & Recreation Advisor Board Currently, the paragraph in Section 16-2 that relates to the student ex officio member of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board says that the student shall be from either Grapevine High School or Colleyville Heritage High School. Staff recommends deleting the wording referencing either of the above high schools and simply state that the student must reside in Grapevine. Staff also recommends modifying the section relating to the appointment on an annual basis to a minimum of a one-year term and a maximum of a two-year term. Attached is what the ordinance currently reads and what staff recommends. C. Discussion regarding Grand Opening/Ribbon Cutting celebrations for the new fountain at the Botanical Gardens and the hike and bike trails The Board will discuss possible grand opening celebrations for the new facilities above and committees to plan each of the events. D. Consider a new logo for the Adopt-A-Road/Park Program and the size of signage for the Adopt -A -Road Program The Board will discuss a new logo for the programs above and the size of the signage for the Adopt -A -Road program.
