Consider approval of an Adopt -A -Road agreement with the Northeast Neighborhood Association for Katie's Woods Drive, from Redbud Lane to Dunn Street C. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Park agreement with the Friends of Oak Grove Park for Oak Grove Park, from the Oak Grove Soccer parking lot to Dove Loop D. DIRE R OF PARKS & RECREATION CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Thursday, July 20, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bessie Mitchell Meeting Facility, 411 Ball Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to wit: Larry Francis Lawrence Baker Leon Leal Debra Tridico Absent: Ray Harris arrived at 7:15 P.M. Staff: Doug Evans Kevin Mitchell The meeting was called to order at 6:04. Introduction of new Advisory Board Member Roy Robertson John Dalri Susan Pittman Gary DeGeorge Chris Smith Scott Hardeman Gary DeGeorge was introduced as the newest member of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. Dick Guckel from the Senior Center Advisory Board was introduced. Invocation A moment of silence was observed. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Leon Leal and seconded by John Dalri to approve the minutes of the June 15, 2006 meeting. Motion passed unanimously. Presentation of Plaque to Outgoing Member Margie Mitchell could not attend the meeting this month, so plaque was not presented. Citizen Requests No citizen requests were mentioned. New Business Presentation of financial and participation reports from Grapevine Youth Sport Associations: Grapevine Girl's Softball Association: Debbie Robinson -mentioned issue regarding decrease in participation numbers. Traveling team just returned from Colorado. Tournament for 12 and under group held recently was very successful. Lights on Field #3 have helped tremendously. No service issues to mention. Wanting to host tournament in September. Looking at developing an all-star softball program. Grapevine Youth Football and Cheerleading Association: James Shafer -Football numbers have been very stagnant over recent years, cheerleading has been declining slightly. Continuing process of turning over 25% of equipment each year. One service issue was dismissal of an assistant coach from a team. Considering partnering with Colleyville Football to form a new league. Grapevine Southlake Soccer Association: Patrick Magee -Participation down slightly. They think this is due to all of the new leagues being offered by other organizations. New President of GSSA is a Grapevine resident. Tournament held over Main Street Days weekend went very smoothly and was the perfect size. Grapevine Youth Baseball: Mike Richmond-GYB has tried to work very closely with GGSA on PR, field use. GYB and GGSA are holding dual sign-ups. New fundraising director will be working on $2,097.51 deficit. No major service issues. Grapevine Youth Wrestling: Mary Martin -New association trying to get rolling this year. Ended up with 2 state champions from GYW, great accomplishment. Excited about the opportunities with this new association. Want to host a tournament in Grapevine this year. A motion was made by John Dalri and seconded by Susan Pittman to approve an Adopt -A -Park agreement with the Northeast Neighborhood Association for Katie's Woods Drive from Redbud Lane to Dunn Street. The motion passed unanimously. A motion was made by Susan Pittman and seconded by John Dalri to approve renewal of an Adopt -A -Park agreement with the Friends of Oak Grove Park for Oak Grove Park, from the Oak Grove Soccer parking lot to Dove Loop. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting day and time was discussed. No changes were made. Miscellaneous Board Reports • Susan Pittman brought up issue regarding excessive amount of trash around Lake Grapevine following July 4. Susan brought up idea of putting up signs and banners reminding visitors to dispose of trash properly. Staff will give this some thought for the future. • Doggie Doo and Litter Too -phone calls have been very positive per Kevin Mitchell. Miscellaneous Staff Reports • Doug Evans gave an update on Links Trail Project. TxDoT ranked project #1 in the region, should have answer November or December. • Doug Evans gave an update on Katie's Woods Boat Ramp. Seven vendors picked up bid packets. Pre-bid August 1s`, bid opening August 8th. • Chris Smith gave an update on Recreation Events including a possible adventure race hosted by GPARD and the 10- year anniversary of CAC. • Susan Pittman gave report on KGVB including awards received and litter survey. • John Dalri mentioned he has a possible candidate to fill open student liaison position. A motion was made by Susan Pittman and seconded by Lawrence Baker to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously. Consider approval of an Adopt -A -Park agreement with the Harris Family for the shoreline for the east side of the slough by Meadowmere Park to Labrador Ba The application is attached for review. Ray and his wife Susan have been doing an outstanding job of cleaning up the shoreline in this area. Staff recommends the Board approve the agreement. B. Consider appointment of Diana Siminski, 3804 Shady Meadow Drive, as the Student Ex -officio member of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Miss Siminski's application is attached for review. She is a Junior at Colleyville Heritage High School. Staff recommends approval. VIII. Presentation — "Trails of Grapevine Staff will show a powerpoint presentation of the "Trails of Grapevine".
