New Business A. Update on the Central Irrigation Control System Irrigation Foreman, Tony Steele, will give the Board an update on where we are with the installation of the Central Irrigation Control System in Grapevine. B. Botanical Gardens Educational Center— Info and naming of facility The Grapevine Garden Club has raised funds to construct an Educational Center at the Botanical Gardens. Kevin Mitchell will show the Board what the facility will look like and the project schedule. C. Capital Projects Report The City Council has authorized staff to begin the planning of some Capital Projects and staff will go over these with the Board. CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Saturday, March 15, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bessie Mitchell Meeting Facility, 411 Ball Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to wit: Ray Harris Susan Pittman John Dalri Larry Francis Absent: Leon Leal Staff: Doug Evans Joe Moore Guests: Lisa Critz, Alliance Newspaper The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. Invocation A moment of silence was observed. Approval of Minutes Debra Tridico Lawrence Baker Roy Robertson Tony Steele Kevin Mitchell A motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Lawrence Baker to approve the February 15, 2007 minutes. Motion passed unanimously. Citizen Requests Lisa Critz presented The Best of the Best. ➢ Best place to jog — Grapevine Lake ➢ Best place to walk your dog —Parr Park New Business Tony Steele presented an update on the status of the Central Irrigation Control System. Tony reported that the system has helped with water conservation and is 80% built out. Kevin Mitchell presented an update on plans for the Botanical Gardens Education Center. The Garden Club took on the project to raise money and over $35,000 has been raised, to date. Size of Center will be 20' x 35'. Groundbreaking for the Center will be on Tuesday, March 27th. A motion was made by Debra Tridico and seconded by Susan Pittman to approve the building of the Botanical Gardens Education Center. Motion passed unanimously. A motion was also made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Debra Tridico to approve naming of the Botanical Gardens Education Center as the Ed and Edith Pewitt Educational Center. Motion passed unanimously. A report on Capital Projects was given. The projects are being funded all or in part by the 4B tax. ❖ Baseball Complex renovation — The Engineer selection process has begun. ❖ Links Trail — Transportation funded trail. ❖ Bellaire Park — to begin. Miscellaneous Board Reports The Hound Dog Hustle sponsored by the Runner and Walkers Club is April 28th Miscellaneous Staff Reports • Kevin Mitchell reported that Katie's Woods Boat Ramp improvements are 99% complete. • Joe Moore reported that Dove Pool renovations of resurfacing are complete. • Susan Pittman with Keep Grapevine Beautiful reported on the lake clean-up and said that it was the "Best Ever". A motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Debra Tridico to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously. Time 6:52 p.m. RECORDING SECRETARY — Joe Moore, Asst. Director DIR TOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION C' IR OF HE BOARD V. New Business A. Consider approval of an Adopt-A-Trail/Road agreement with Wal-Mart Super Center Stores #1178 & 266 for the Cottonbelt Trail. from Baylor Parkway to Kimball Road A copy of the agreement is attached for review. Staff recommends approval. B. Consider approval of an Adopt -A -Shoreline agreement with the Zan Family for the shoreline between the Dove Loop Boat Ramp and Sand Bass Point Boat Ramp A copy of the agreement is attached for review. Staff recommends approval. C. Update on design consultant interviews for the Oak Grove Baseball Complex Interviews were held on Wednesday, April 4u. Staff will update the Board on the selection of a consultant.
