The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Thursday, August 16, 2007 at
6:00 p.m. at the Bessie Mitchell Meeting Facility, 411 Ball Street, Grapevine, Texas with
the following members present, to wit:

The meeting was called to order at 6:01 p.m.
Introduction of new Advisory Board Member and new Chairperson
Brad Burns was introduced as the newest member of the Parks and Recreation
Advisory Board.
Roy Robertson was introduced as the new Chairperson of the Park and Recreation
Advisory Board.
Invocation
A moment of silence was observed.
Approval of Minutes
A motion was made by Leon Leal and seconded by John Dalri to approve the minutes
of the July 12, 2007 meeting. Motion passed unanimously.
Citizen Requests
There were no citizen requests.
New Business
Presentation of financial and participation reports from each youth sport Association:
Grapevine Girl's Softball Association: Debbie Robinson -noted:
• The Association is down 102 players; this year they will need to replace a lot of
equipment.
• The Midnight Madness tournament was very successful.
• They will be hosting a tournament in September for 12 and under.
• They always allow any kid to play if the family can not afford it.
• Insurance policy they have is $6 per player and $50 per team; they now have a
better policy at a cheaper price.
Grapevine/Colleyville Youth Football Association: Wayne Crandall noted:
• Last year they had 13 teams.
• The Association merged with Colleyville and now will be playing as part of the North
Texas Football League, which will include Coppell, Southlake, and
Grapevine/Co I I eyvi I I e.
• Kids in the league must be from the geographical boundary of the team they are
playing on.
• 501 c3 is in the application process due to the new organization.
• The program has grown tremendously.
Grapevine Girls Soccer Association: Melissa Edwards noted:
• They have changed the group they will be joining with to play the U11 teams; that
group will now play with a Mid -Cities group of teams.
• They provided 25 scholarships this past year.
• They put on referee clinics for extra training for referees in their league.
• One issue brought up: dogs at the fields during games. No resolution, just
discussion.
Grapevine Youth Baseball: Mary Martin noted:
• Numbers have been up. Blast Ball was up a lot this past spring.
• Colt/Varsity have been doing very well.
• The Association is very excited about the renovation project.
• The league is on very sound financial footing.
• They hosted several tournaments at the fields this year.
Grapevine Youth Wrestling: Mary Martin noted:
• This was the second full year of existence.
• The season runs November through mid-February.
• They provided 4 scholarships.
• Hosted tournaments at Grapevine Middle School that was way more successful than
expected and will probably need to host at a high school.
A motion was made by Debra Tridico and seconded by John Dalri to approve renewal of
an Adopt -A -Road agreement with the Grapevine American Business Club for Main
Street, from SH 114 to Northwest Highway and for Barton Street and Jenkins Street.
The motion passed unanimously.
The meeting day and time for the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board was discussed.
No changes were made.
Joe Moore passed out a list of board positions and changes to the document were
addressed. Joe mentioned that Brad's position is for a one-year term.
Miscellaneous Board Reports
There were no Miscellaneous Board Reports.
Miscellaneous Staff Reports
• Joe Moore gave an update on the improvements at Oak Grove Baseball. Many
options of plans have been submitted and reviewed. Staff met with HNTB to
discuss branding of the complex and how that could extend into other Lake Parks.
• Joe Moore reported on the Lake Parks. The lake is going down 3 — 3'h inches per
day.
• Kevin Mitchell gave an update on the Bellaire Park opening. The park opened on
8/16/07, with the formal Grand Opening to be held on a tentative date set for
September 6`h at 4:00 p.m.
• Chris Smith reported on Recreation events. Halloween on Main Street was
discussed. New Playbooks are being delivered Thursday and Friday. Pool hours
for the coming week were discussed as well as the Citywide garage sale, personal
fitness training and massage packages. TCU distance learning classes in the
gardens will begin in September.
• The Keep Grapevine Beautiful Trinity Trash Bash September 29th information was
discussed.
A motion was made by Leon Leal and seconded by John Dalri to adjourn. The motion
passed unanimously. Time: 8:10 p.m.

A. New Business
A. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Park agreement with Geohean Sheriff and
Kline Johnson for Lakeview Park
The agreement is attached for review. This park used to be adopted by Ms.
Sheriff and Buck Buchanan. Mr. Buchanan has moved so Mr. Johnson is
adopting the park with Ms. Sheriff. Staff recommends approval.
B. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Road agreement with the Grapevine
Heritage Lions Club for W. D. Tate Avenue. from SH 114 to Dallas Road
The agreement is attached for review. Staff recommends approval.
C. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Road agreement with the Grapevine Dirty
Dozen for Dallas Road. from Main Street to Baylor Parkway
The agreement is attached for review. Staff recommends approval.
D. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Road agreement with the Gaylord Texan
Resort for Ruth Wall Street and Gaylord Trail
The agreement is attached for review. Staff recommends approval.
E. Consider approval of an Adopt -A -Road agreement with the McCracken
Family for Kimball Road. from Silvercrest to Lake Grapevine and for the C.
Shane Wilbanks Trail. from Snakev Lane to Silvercrest
The agreement is attached for review. Staff recommends approval.
Discuss the date and time for the annual tour of parks and facilities
This Board will discuss the date and time for the annual tour. Staff is
recommending either Saturday, October 13`r' or Saturday, October 20th
