DIFUTOR OF PARKS & RECREATION �F„t� CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bessie Mitchell Meeting Facility, 411 Ball Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to wit: Bob Tipton ✓ Lawrence Baker - Roy Robertson David Buhr ✓ Absent: John Dalri Staff: Joe Moore The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. Invocation Bob Tipton gave an invocation. Approval of Minutes Larry Francis Elizabeth Kaufman Debra Tridico Ray Harris � Chris Smith A motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by David Buhr to approve the minutes of the July 16, 2009 meeting. Motion passed unanimously. Citizen Requests Joe Moore mentioned that Doug Evans was not present due to injury the previous night and if he is okay, he will travel until Tuesday. Bob Tipton asked about dog owners walking dogs, but not having anything to clean up with. New Business A. Motion was made by Elizabeth Kaufman and seconded by Ray Harris to approve an Adopt -An -Area agreement with the Orphey Family for the shoreline south of Scott's Landing Marina, between Vineyard View and Chris Craft Drive. Motion passed unanimously. B. Motion was made by Bob Tipton and seconded by Larry Francis to approve an Adopt -An -Area agreement with the Deem Family for the shoreline south of Scott's Landing Marina, from Farris Branch Road southeast to Murrell Road. Motion passed unanimously. C. Motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Lawrence Baker to approve the renewal of an Adopt -An -Area agreement with the Friends of Casey for Casey's Clubhouse. Motion passed unanimously. D. Motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Ray Harris to approve the renewal of an Adopt -An -Area agreement with the Zan Family for the Shoreline from Dove Loop Boat Ramp to Sand Bass Boat Ramp. Motion passed unanimously. E. Motion was made by Elizabeth Kaufman and seconded by Lawrence Baker to approve the renewal of an Adopt -An -Area agreement with the Grapevine American Business Club for Main Street, from SH 114 to Northwest Highway and Barton and Jenkins Streets. Motion passed with two abstaining; Larry Francis and David Buhr. Miscellaneous Staff Reports • Joe Moore reported on the status of Rockledge Park. Joe discussed the updates from City Council meeting regarding Rockledge Park, including: ➢ fees of $5.00 per car. ➢ Roofing materials for shade structures were delivered today. ➢ Saturday visitors — 250. ➢ Sunday visitors — 300 — 350. Joe Moore reported on the status of the Vineyards Campground. ➢ Vineyards Campground financial presentation was made to City Council. Additional sites and improvement ideas were given to Council. Council were receptive of these ideas, but not formally approved. ➢ Hopefully, will get amenities completed over winter, to be ready in Spring 2010. Shane Wilbanks talked about items regarding Rockledge and Vineyards Campground. Bob Tipton asked about Meadowmere as far as RVs, etc. • Chris Smith reported on the Botanical Garden Photo Contest. • David Buhr asked about Grapevine Youth Baseball and Grapevine Girls Soccer Association regarding fields and concession stand. Chris Smith mentioned meetings that are coming up to discuss these issues. • David Buhr discussed the Keep Grapevine Beautiful Trash and Treasure coming 'h up on October 24 • Nov. 14th is Texas Recycles Day and a Storm Water Drainage marketing program is underway, beginning with 1,000 markers on the north end of town. • Nash Farm Event is October 10tH • The 1St Monday of the month, Chili's and Jason's Deli will give 10% of their check to Keep Grapevine Beautiful. • Leon Leal reported that school starts back on Monday. Fall sports are underway. • Jorge Rodriguez will be taking over Leon's spot as liaison to Park Board for GCISD. GCISD will need to send a letter and then on to Council as information. A bond committee is being formed; including tennis court lights, computers, and ball fields. • Joe Moore reported on the trail marking system. It is the same program developed by Ray Harris. GPS coordinates will be on color -coded markings on the ground, which will give'/4 mile increments. • GrapeFest will be Sept. 17 — 20tH • Ray Harris asked about the soccer fields and about signage where fences are on fields and gates are locked. • October 10th is the next RAW race (Double Trouble) and between 600 — 800 people are expected at the event. A motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Bob Tipton to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously. Consider a date for the annual tour of Parks & Recreation Facilities The Board will consider a date in October for the annual tour. The tour us usually on a Saturday morning. Staff's preferred date for the tour is Saturday, October 17th, beginning at 8:00 a.m.
