Miscellaneous Staff Reports
Vineyards Campground — Doug Evans offered an overview on progress of the
Vineyards Campground improvements. He noted 6 sewer lifts out of 19 were
already in place. He suggested that the Board Members take a tour of the
construction site.
Meadowmere Boat Ramp — Doug Evans discussed the boating access grant.
Texas Parks & Wildlife had already approved the grant but was now questioning
that the restroom facilities would be used by more than those utilizing the fishing
pier, so discussions are taking place on what percentage of costs each party is
responsible for. The geo tech study is done.
Keep Grapevine Beautiful — Mary Jo Tellin gave a report on the current
accomplishments and projects of KGVB's. The report is attached to these
minutes.
Miscellaneous Board items/announcements
GCISD School District — Jorge Rodriquez stated that the new superintendent had
been hired — Robin Ryan — and should be a great fit for the district. He also
reported that Newsweek Magazine published a report on percentage of AP test
takers and CHHS ranked 172 and GHS ranked 332 in the nation.
Katie's Woods Trail — Beth Kaufman proposed a new idea for the Katie's Woods
Trail. Report is attached to these minutes. General conversation followed
regarding traffic flow of vehicles and boats, how the trail would affect
neighborhoods and the size of the road. Doug Evans followed up with the
broader vision of how lake traffic counts were way up as paid parks were driving
visitors to unpaid locations and that a key to trail enhancements was their
approval of the Bike & Trail Master Plan. Once the master plan is approved, the
board can start looking at improvements. Doug Evans reported that 550 surveys
were in and feedback should be available to the board next month. Linkage had
been rated quite high in the past. Several members thanked Beth for her
thorough report. Roy Robertson commented that respect for the parks system
had grown substantially since he first served on the board. Dave Buhr suggested
future focus be on bikers sharing the road with vehicles. Doug Evans noted that
the city was meeting regularly with Mad Duck Cyclery and Northgate to work
towards developments in this area.
Adjourn
A motion was made by Elizabeth Kaufman and seconded by Bob Tipton to
