Discuss changing the date of the August meeting VII. DI TOR OF PARKS & RECREATION CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bessie Mitchell Meeting Facility, 411 Ball Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to wit: John Dalri Roy Robertson Ray Harris Lawrence Baker Ben Dyer Elizabeth Kaufman Debra Tridico Absent: Larry Francis Dave Buhr Staff: Doug Evans Joe Moore Citizens: Mark Assad, Grapevine-Colleyville Youth Football Assoc. Keith Hallman, Grapevine-Southlake Soccer Association Bo Wilson, Grapevine Youth Wrestling Brian Higganbotham, Grapevine Baseball & Softball Association Travis Smith, Volunteer Trail Steward Manager The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. Member Recognitions Mr. Benjamen Dyer was introduced as an incoming member. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Elizabeth Kaufman and seconded by Lawrence Baker to approve the minutes of the June 16, 2011 meeting. Motion passed unanimously. Citizen Requests Mr. Travis Smith, Volunteer Trail Steward Manager, informed the Board that Saturday, October 1 st is the next Community Outreach program: National Take a Kid Mountain Bike Riding Day. Travis became a member of IMBA, DORBA. New Business A. Presentation of the financial and participation reports from the following youth associations were made: (1) Grapevine-Colleyville Youth Football Association: Mark Assead — See report. (2) Grapevine-Southlake Soccer Association: — See report. (3) Grapevine Youth Wrestling: — See report. (4) Grapevine Youth Baseball & Softball Association: — See report. B. Discuss changing the date of the August meeting A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Debra Tridico to move the August meeting to August 11, 2011. Motion passed unanimously. Miscellaneous Staff Reports • Doug Evans reported that the construction has started on the boat ramp at Meadowmere Park and that it will be a 120 day project. • Doug Evans reported that Halloween on Main Street will no longer be on Main Street — further information to be announced. • Keep Grapevine Beautiful (KGVB) has many projects going on. Miscellaneous Board Reports None. A motion was made by Debra Tridico and seconded by Roy Robertson to adjourn. Motion passed unanimously. Time: 7:04 p.m. RECORDING SECRETARY—Joe Moore, Asst. Director DIRECTOR OF PARKS & RECREATION C7 OF THE BOARD VII. New Business A. Consider appointment of Mr. Seth Gillitzer. 2030 Forest Hills Road Grapevine, as the Student Ex -Officio member of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board The Board will consider the appointment. Mr. Gillitzer's application for the Board is attached. B. Consider renewal of Adopt -An -Area agreements with Mad Duck Cvclery for Dove Loop, from Dooley Street to Dove Road and with James Loftin for the creek at Gaylord Trail and Ruth Wall The agreements and report forms are attached for review. Staff recommends approval. C. Consider approval of an Adopt -An -Area agreement with Discover Kayak for McPherson Slough, from the shoreline at W. Kimball Road and Lakeridge Drive northwest to the group boat dock )please see attached map) The agreement is attached for review. Staff recommends approval.
