Election of the Vice -Chairperson and Secretary of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board VII. New Business A. Consider appointment of Mr. Seth Gillitzer, 2030 Forest Hills Road, Grapevine, as the Student Ex -Officio member of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board B. Consider renewal of Adopt -An -Area agreements with Mad Duck Cyclery for Dove Loop, from Dooley Street to Dove Road and with James Loftin for the creek at Gaylord Trail and Ruth Wall C. Consider approval of an Adopt -An -Area agreement with Discover Kayak for McPherson Slough, from the shoreline at W. Kimball Road and Lakeridge Drive northwest to the group boat dock (please see attached map) VIII. DI V TOR OF PARKS & RECREATION CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the Senior Activities Center, 421 Church Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to wit: John Dalri Roy Robertson Larry Francis Ray Harris Lawrence Baker Ben Dyer Debra Tridico Elizabeth Kaufman Dave Buhr (arrived 6:05) Benjamen Dyer Staff: Doug Evans Joe Moore The meeting was called to order at 6:02 p.m. Recognition was given to outgoing Student Ex -Officio Member Samantha Cloud (not present). Becky St. John was introduced as the new GCISD School Board Representative. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Elizabeth Kaufman and seconded by Ray Harris to approve the minutes of the July 21, 2011 meeting. Motion passed unanimously. Citizen Requests There were no Citizen Requests. Elections A motion was made by Ray Harris and seconded by Roy Robertson to elect Lawrence Baker as Vice -Chair. Motion passed unanimously. A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Larry Francis to elect Elizabeth Kaufman as Secretary. Motion passed unanimously. New Business A motion was made by Debra Tridico and seconded by Lawrence Baker to appoint Mr. Seth Gillitzer, 2030 Forest Hills Road, Grapevine, as the Student Ex -Officio member of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board. Motion passed unanimously. A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Dave Buhr to renew Adopt -An - Area agreements with Mad Duck Cyclery for Dove Loop, from Dooley Street to Dove Road and with James Loftin for the creek at Gaylord Trail and Ruth Wall. Motion passed unanimously. A motion was made by Debra Tridico and seconded by Roy Robertson to approve an Adopt -An -Area agreement with Discover Kayak for McPherson Slough, from the shoreline at W. Miscellaneous Staff Reports • Joe Moore reported that the grading has begun on the boat ramp at Meadowmere Park and CXT will be delivered in October. Also, the pavilion colors have been selected. • Doug Evans reported that Halloween on Main Street has been cancelled this year. It had gotten to be too big for Main Street. • Dave Buhr gave an update on Keep Grapevine Beautiful (KGVB) projects: ➢ Dave reported on a reception with Oncor at the Palace Theater. ➢ KGVB is also involved in Grapevine Leadership, WARR, and the City - Wide Garage Sale. ➢ KGVB is still looking for a Board President. ➢ KGVB is working on the Yard of the Month program. ➢ Litter index is being done 8/12/11. ➢ KGVB storage area will be located at the Vineyards Campground. ➢ KGVB was recognized by Keep Texas Beautiful for the Youth Award and Overall Award. Miscellaneous Board Items • Discussed moving the September meeting from the 15th to 22"d. Consensus is to move it. • Becky St. John reported on playground to be provided by the City at Police Outreach Center on Mustang Drive. A motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Debra Tridico to adjourn. Motion passed unanimously. Time: 6:36 p.m. RECORDING SECRETARY — Joe Moore, Asst. Director DI ECTOR OF PARKS & RECREATION V. New Business A. Board to discuss hours of operation of Lakeview Park Meadowmere Park and Rockledge Park Please see the attached proposed ordinance regarding the hours of operation of the parks above. Staff recommends approval of the ordinance. B. Consider approval of an Adopt -An -Area agreement with the Clan Campbell for Roberts Road. from Hall -Johnson to Birch Street The agreement is attached for review. Staff recommends approval. C. Staff presentation on the "Grape -Yard at the Vineyards Campground" event on Saturday, October 29, 2011 Staff will inform the Board of activities that day and ask for volunteers for the event.
