IN ACCORDANCE WITH TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE, CHAPTER 551.001 et seq, ACTS OF THE 1993 TEXAS LEGISLATURE, THE BOARD MEETING AGENDA, WAS PREPARED AND POSTED ON THIS THE 131h DAY OF J 11,ARY 2012 AT 0-P: DIR OR OF PARKS & RECREATION CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bessie Mitchell Meeting Facility, 411 Ball Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to wit: Larry Francis John Dalri Lawrence Baker Roy Robertson Ray Harris David Buhr Elizabeth Kaufman Debra Tridico Staff: Doug Evans Joe Moore The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Debra Tridico and seconded by Elizabeth Kaufman to approve the minutes of the November 17, 2011 meeting. Motion passed unanimously. Citizen Requests There were no Citizen Requests. New Business Discussion was held regarding a partnership with Baylor Medical Center for a bicycle rack program. Baylor Hospital is offering to help pay for the bike racks around town. Terry Musar, Mad Duck Cyclery, explained the reasons behind the recommended 2/4/6 bike rack stands. Baylor has $15-20K for racks; City to match; and then selected businesses to share 1/3 each. Racks to be anchored. User is to provide their own lock. Racks will be UV protected and powder coated. There have been approximately 60 locations around town identified for racks. A Marketing/Promotion program will be launched with the program. A motion was made Roy Robertson and seconded by Larry Francis to approve the partnership with Baylor Medical Center for a bicycle rack program for Grapevine. Motion passed unanimously. A motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Elizabeth Kaufman to approve renewal of the following Adopt -An -Area agreements: • The Mower family for the shoreline at Lake Grapevine, from Trawick Boat Ramp to Scott's Landing Marina • Pampered Home Pro for Hall -Johnson Road, from SH 121 to Hughes Rd. The motion passed unanimously. Miscellaneous Staff Reports ❖ Doug Evans gave an update on the Meadowmere boat ramp grant. The skid dock is the final element. ❖ Doug Evans reported on the Denton Creek Trail erosion repair. The Silver Oaks Apartment owners are to help pay half the cost. ❖ Joe Moore reported on the Links Trail (Hwy. 26). The trail design is roughly at 60% completion. ❖ Doug Evans gave an update on the selection process for a feasibility study for the CAC expansion/renovation. ❖ Upcoming events are: ➢ Jan. 28th — Trail clean-up event — all trails — Keep Grapevine Beautiful ➢ Feb. 4th — Daddy/Daughter Dance at Community Activities Center ➢ Feb. 18th — "Hook -it and Cook -it" at Oak Grove Pond ➢ March 24th — Cast for Catfish — Church at the Cross Miscellaneous Board items Dave Buhr reported on the following for Keep Grapevine Beautiful: o City Recycling Trial o HHW event on January 7th o Trail cleanup — January 28th o Possible clean up event of old paint ball area with a private company of 500 volunteers Seth Gillitzer asked about bike lanes, replacing existing bike racks, etc. Travis Smith gave a "kudos" for the trail webpage. A motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Lawrence Baker to adjourn. Motion passed unanimously. Time: 6:45 p.m. RECORDING SECRETARY — Joe Moore, Asst. Consider approval of Adopt -An -Area agreements with Magnus LaDue and with Demmilee Video Productions The agreements and report forms are attached for review. Staff recommends approval. B. Next Phase of the Botanical Gardens — Greenhouse Staff will give a presentation on the proposed Greenhouse and support facilities for the Botanical Gardens.
