Consider approval of the following Adopt -An -Area agreements • Magnus LaDue for the Big Bear Creek Trail, from Bear Creek Park to the pond at the Church at the Cross Demmilee Video Productions for the shoreline at Lake Grapevine from the Trawick Boat Ramp to the Dove Loop Boat Ramp B. Next Phase of the Botanical Gardens — Greenhouse VI. Miscellaneous Staff Reports (No action will be taken on any of the following items) • Update on the Denton Creek Trail erosion • Update on the SH 26 north hike and bike trail • Update on Ira E. Woods Trail • Update on the feasibility study for the CAC expansion/renovation • Meadowmere Boat Ramp Grand Opening — Thursday, April 19th • Upcoming events VII. DIRE OR OF PARKS & RECREATION CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bessie Mitchell Meeting Facility, 411 Ball Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to wit: Roy Robertson Larry Francis John Dalri Lawrence Baker Elizabeth Kaufmann Ben Dyer David Buhr Debra Tridico Absent: Ray Harris Staff: Doug Evans Joe Moore The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. A moment of silence was observed for the invocation. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by David Buhr to approve the minutes of the January 19, 2012 meeting with the correction to show that Ben Dyer was absent. Motion passed unanimously. Citizen Requests There were no Citizen Requests. New Business A motion was made by Elizabeth Kaufmann and seconded by Debra Tridico to approve the following Adopt -An -Area agreements: • Magnus LaDue for the Big Bear Creek Trail, from Bear Creek Park to the pond at the Church at the Cross • Demmilee Video Productions for the shoreline at Lake Grapevine from the Trawick Boat Ramp to the Dove Loop Boat Ramp The motion passed unanimously. Doug Evans presented the Greenhouse proposal at the Botanical Gardens with access off Scribner. The Garden Club has a committee and raised approximately $15K of $150K needed for the next phase of the Botanical Gardens. Miscellaneous Staff Reports • Doug gave an update on the Denton Creek Trail erosion explaining that a detour was created. • Joe and Doug gave an update on the SH 26 north hike and bike trail; 60% design completion. • Joe gave an update on Ira E. Woods Trail. The selection of engineers will be coming soon. • Doug gave an update on the feasibility study for the CAC expansion/renovation; contract for the feasibility study has been approved. • Doug reported that the Meadowmere Boat Ramp Grand Opening will be Thursday, April 19th • Upcoming events ➢ Travis Smith is leading Trail Stewart Training programs. ➢ Workday at Horseshoe Trails is set for Saturday, March 10m ➢ Sunday, March 25th there will be a Bike Demo at Horseshoe Trails Park. ➢ Saturday, June 2nd is National Trails Day. There is be educational booths on the trails. ➢ Saturday, October 6th is National Take Your Kid Bike Riding Day. Miscellaneous Board items ❖ Dave Buhr reported on Keep Grapevine Beautiful including: o Trail Trekking for Trash report o Paintball area cleanup o Household Hazardous Waste event o DFW Earth Day o Don't Mess With Texas is April 14"' o Verizon Earth Day is April 1 gth o Rusty Walker has replaced Tony Steel as the KGVB liaison for the Parks Division. ❖ Roy Robertson reported an increase in graffiti on trash cans, port -a -potties and signs. A motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Debra Tridico to adjourn. Motion passed unanimously. Time: 6:50 p.m. RECORDING SECRETARY — Joe Moore, Asst. Director 41M DIRE TOR OF PARKS & RECREATION CHAT V. New Business A. Consider approval of Adopt -An -Area agreement with the Parker Family for College Street, from Main Street west to SH114 The agreement and report form are attached for review. Staff recommends approval. B. New ADA Requirements Board Member Elizabeth Kaufman will go over some of the new ADA requirements. C. 2012 Quality of Life Improvements Staff will present the Quality of Life Improvements that the Council approved at the March 6, 2012 meeting. Please see the attached list of QOL improvements that the Council approved at the March 6, 2012 meeting.
