DIRE OR OF PARKS & RECREATION CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bessie Mitchell Meeting Facility, 411, Ball Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to wit: Larry Francis Lawrence Baker Elizabeth Kaufmann Debra Tridico John Dalri Roy Robertson Ben Dyer Seth Gillitzer Ray Harris arrived at 6:20 p.m. Absent: Dave Buhr Staff: Doug Evans, Kevin Mitchell, Chris Smith, Mary Jo Tellin and Mona Burk The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. A moment of silence was observed for the invocation. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Debra Tridico and seconded by Ben Dyer to approve the minutes of the April 19, 2012 meeting. Motion passed unanimously. Citizen Requests There were no Citizen Requests. Presentation Recreation Superintendent Chris Smith gave a powerpoint presentation on the expansion and renovation of the Community Activities center. The expansion option chosen by the City Council was an estimated $28 million expansion/renovation for a final square footage of approximately 108,000 sq. ft. The current facility is 48,000 sq. foot. Miscellaneous Reports Director Doug Evans updated the board on the following projects. • Denton Creek Trail Erosion • New Park Signs • Spraygrounds at Dove Park and Parr Park • Fishing Pier • Pickering Park Restroom Miscellaneous Board Items Doug Evans informed the Board that Sabre/Travelocity had over 350 volunteers at Bear Creek Park and approximately 180 volunteers at Meadowmere Park doing miscellaneous projects. Great work by Mary Jo and her team. A motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Elizabeth Kaufman to adjourn. Motion passed unanimously. Consider approval of an Adopt -An -Area agreement with Legoland Discovery Center/Sealife Aquarium for Rockledge Park The application is attached. Staff recommends approval. B. Consider approval of an Adopt -An -Area agreement with Vineyard Dental for Champagne Boulevard The application is attached for review. Staff recommends approval. C. Consider renewal of an Adopt -An -Area agreement with the Grapevine Heritage Lions Club for Ira E. Woods Avenue/Hudgins Street from Dallas Road to Dooley Street The application is attached for review. Staff recommends approval. D. CAC Expansion/Renovation Feasibility Study update Staff will update the Board on the status of the feasibility study and inform the members where the process will go from this point. E. Outreach Center Playground The City has been working with officials at GRACE on the development of a playground at the Outreach Center on Mustang Drive. Staff will update the Board on the status of the playground.
