The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met July 16, 2015 at 6:00
p.m. in The REC of Grapevine Administration Conference Room, 1175 Municipal Way,
Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit:

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.
A moment of silence was observed.

Approval of Minutes
A motion was made by Debra Tridico and seconded by John Dalri to approve the June
18, 2015 minutes. Motion passed 8-0.

Gary Humble and Dave Buhr
Nays— None
Absent — Roy Robertson
Citizen Requests
Don Mayo, 2904 Kimball Court, Grapevine, requested that the portable toilets near
Snakey Lane point entrance be replaced.
New Business
A motion was made by Terry Musar and seconded by Larry Francis to elect Dave Buhr
as the Vice -Chairperson of the Parks & Recreation Board. Motion passed 8-0.
Ayes — Ray Harris, Larry Francis, John Dalri, Terry Musar, Krystyna Plut, Debra Tridico,
Gary Humble and Dave Buhr
Nays— None
Absent — Roy Robertson
A motion was made by Ray Harris and seconded by Larry Francis to elect Gary Humble
as the Secretary of the Parks & Recreation Board. Motion passed 8-0.

Gary Humble and Dave Buhr

Legislative Update (No Action Taken)
Kevin Mitchell handed out the new bills that came out of Austin.
Presentation
Annual Youth Sports
• Grapevine -Baseball Softball Association (GBSA) — John Merigold presented.
Three scholarships in the amount of $1,000 are awarded every year. GBSA
holds a fundraiser for used equipment which is donated and shipped to
Nicaragua. They would like to see an indoor practice field in Grapevine.
• Grapevine-Southlake Soccer Association (LSSA) — Nirav Assar and Melissa
Edwards presented. Mr. Assaar expressed gratitude to the board. He spoke on
scholarship details, service and upcoming issues. Ms. Edwards stated there are
only three fields in Grapevine but no lights and that they need help with locations
to play.
• Grapevine-Colleyville Youth Football Association (GCYFA) — Mark Assaad
presented. All participants are GCISD Students/have a GCISD home address.
All coaches are certified.
• Grapevine Youth Wrestling — Waymon May presented. All participants are
GCISD.
PARD Informational Items (No Action Taken)
The REC of Grapevine update — Kevin Mitchell reported the following:
• The REC has surpassed 12,000 members, which was the business plan goal
• The punch list is complete and teams are working at night to complete the items
on the list.
• Irrigation and landscaping continues
• There are a few service issues which are being addressed
Miscellaneous Board Items (No Action Taken)
Keep Grapevine Beautiful — Dave Buhr reported on the following:
• The next board meeting is August 3
• Vacancies on the board
KTB conference as last month; attendees returned with some good ideas
• Lake Clean-up
GCISD Report — Becky St. John reported on the following:
• Summer Bond Work
• Turf and track replacement
• Appointment applications for bond committee closed
High School Student Report - Abby Sandy reported the following:
• GCISD Job Fair— July 21, 9-3 pm
• District Wide Residency Verification —July 23, 8-3 pm
• Seniors apply to college — August 1
Adjourn
Motion was made by Debra Tridico and seconded by Larry Francis to adjourn the
meeting at 7:15 p.m. Motion passed 8-0.
