Shane Wilbanks (City Council) Abby Sandy (Student) Constituting a quorum with the following members of the City Staff: Kevin Mitchell Chris Smith Kathy Nelson Randy Sell April Rogers The meeting was called to order at 6:01 p.m. A moment of silence was observed. Director of Parks & Recreation Deputy Director CIP & Planning Manager Lake Parks & Events Manager Event Production Supervisor Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Debra Tridico to approve the March 19, 2015 minutes. Motion passed 8-0. Ayes — John Dalri, Roy Robertson, Ray Harris, Larry Francis, Terry Musar, Elizabeth Kaufman, Debra Tridico and Gary Humble Nays— None Absent — Dave Buhr Citizen Requests Travis Smith reported the following: ® The arrow signs for the hikers and bikers at Horseshoe trail are almost complete. ® The 'You Are Here' signs for point of reference are being installed. 4pru 15, 2010 Presentations The REC Grand Opening Kevin Mitchell ran through the agenda for the Grand Opening. Mr. Mitchell also provided an update on the construction of the facility. Introduction of April Rogers, Event Production Supervisor Randy Sell introduced April Rogers and stated she had several years of experience as a producer and production manager in the Entertainment Industry, and explained what her role would be on the production side of the Parks & Recreation sponsored events. April Rogers shared her background and experience. Upcoming PARD Special Events Randy Sell showed a video snippet of the upcoming Mother/Son event. Mr. Sell also informed the members of the new and upcoming Fourth Friday Films series which will showcase a different park/facility each month. New Business May Meeting C. Shane Wilbanks commented that every committee in the city currently meets where the department offices and therefore it was appropriate for the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board to meet in The REC conference room. A motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Ray Harris to move the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Meeting to The REC of Grapevine Administrative Services conference room. Motion passed 8-0. Ayes — John Dalri, Roy Robertson, Ray Harris, Larry Francis, Terry Musar, Elizabeth Kaufman, Debra Tridico and Gary Humble Nays — None Absent — Dave Buhr PARD Informational Items (No Action Taken) Park Maintenance — Kevin Mitchell reported that the heavy rains affected the parks and staff is working on cleaning up. The REC of Grapevine Construction Update — Kevin Mitchell reported on the progress to -date, and stated there were noticeable changes every day. Mr. Mitchell stated the landscaping would not be done by the Grand Opening date. Trail Updates — Kevin Mitchell reported on the following: ® Interactive Trails Map - Staff was working with the GIS Department on an interactive trails map. The interactive trails map would allow users on the trail to click on the map and see their location. ® Links Trail — Utility relocation underway. © Bear Creek Trail — Trail is dictating lane closure because it is where the crane is located. Apri 16, 2015 Lake Parks — Chris Smith reported on the following: • DFW Director's Event - April 17 • Grand Opening of Grapevine's first Paddling Trail - June 6 Recreation — Chris Smith reported the Community Activity Center Annex would be closed April 23 and 24 in order to prepare for the move into The REC which will be fully operational on April 25. Kevin Mitchell reported that in the past programs were six weeks, but that it was changing to monthly, which will help our patrons. Athletics — Chris Smith reported there is a Tennis tournament this weekend, as well as USSSA overflow games. Miscellaneous Board Items (No Action Taken) Keep Grapevine Beautiful - On behalf of Mendie Schmidt, Kathy Nelson reported the following: • EPIC Earth Day — April 18. The location was moved to the Botanical Gardens in hopes to attract more vendors. • Don't Mess with Texas community event - April 11 • Epic Earth Day event —April 18 • Household Hazardous Waste Event — March 28 • KGVB meets the first Monday of the month at 6:30 pm the Bessie Mitchell House GCISD Report — No report. High School Student Report - Abby Sandy reported that the Girls Soccer team lost at the Finals. Ms. Sandy also reported the Girls & Boys Golf is going to State. Ad'ourn Motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Terry Musar to adjourn the meeting at 6:50 p.m. Motion passed 8-0.
