Shane Wilbanks (City Council) Becky St. John (GCISD) Abby Sandy (Student) Elizabeth Kaufman Terry Musar Gary Humble Dave Buhr constituting a quorum with the following members of the City Staff: Kevin Mitchell Chris Smith Scott Hardeman Mendie Schmidt The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. A moment of silence was observed. Director of Parks & Recreation Deputy Director Athletics Manager Executive Director of Keep Grapevine Beautiful & Volunteer Services Liaison Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Debra Tridico and seconded by Elizabeth Kaufman to approve the January 15, 2015 minutes. Motion passed 9-0. Ayes — John Dalri, Roy Robertson, Ray Harris, Larry Francis, Terry Musar, Elizabeth Kaufman, Debra Tridico, Gary Humble and Dave Buhr Nays— None Citizen Requests There were no citizen comments. Presentations Litter Index Survey Results Mendie Schmidt presented the Litter Index Survey Results from the evaluation performed on December 17, 2014. Ten volunteers participated, including members February 19, 2015 from Parks Board, KGVB and the Community New Business March 19, 2015 meeting A motion was made by Gary Humble and seconded by Larry Francis to have a brief meeting at The REC job trailer followed by a tour of the facility. Motion passed 9-0. PARD Informational Items (No Action Taken) Park Maintenance — Kevin Mitchell reported on the Oak Grove Trail bridge repairs. Mr. Mitchell showed the board members an image of the new bollards that staff is trying which when pulled out; they get flush and have a cleaner look. The REC of Grapevine Construction Update — Kevin Mitchell reported the Events Hall, Senior Wing, Indoor Play and Classroom are 100% done for exception of ceiling and carpet. The tile work is done in all public restrooms. Utilities are set. The bulk of the furniture is expected to arrive the week of March 23. An example of the folder for new members, which includes a layout map of the facility and the Membership Fee rack card, was distributed to each board member. A street banner announcing The REC Grand Opening and URL will be hung on Main Street. Trail Updates — Kevin Mitchell provided a status update on the following trails: Wall Farrar, Bear Creek Linkage and Links. Lake Parks — Chris Smith reported the following: • Randy Sell attended The National School of RV Park & Campground Management School • A new gate system had been installed at Meadowmere Park, which provides park guests easy access in and out of the park Recreation — Chris Smith reported the following: • Daddy/Daughter Dance had 1400 participants over the three sessions • Easter Egg Hunt - March 28 • Mother/Son Event - May 1 • Mom & Me Tea - May 9 Athletics — Scott Hardeman reported on the upcoming tournaments and GBSA's Opening Day. Mr. Hardeman also provided an update on the Verizon FIGS at Oak Grove Park. Kevin Mitchell and Chris Smith hosted Major League Baseball (MLB) representatives and announced the MLB World Series would return in 2015 to Oak Grove. Miscellaneous Board Items (No Action Taken) Keep Grapevine Beautiful Dave Buhr reported on the following: c Household Hazardous Waste Event — March 28 2 February 19, 2015 o Don't Mess with Texas community event - April 11. o Epic Earth Day event — April 18 o Household Hazardous Waste Event — March 28 o KGVB meets the first Monday of the month at 6:30 pm the Bessie Mitchell House GCISD Report - No report High School Student Report - No report Adjourn Motion was made by Ray Harris and seconded by Debra Tridico to adjourn the meeting at 6:53 p.m. Motion passed 9-0.
