K vin Mitchell, Director of Parks & Recreation 1, *- I rq ;.:: `J s •jj ".I t 9 1 1 .1 & - ,O , The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met July 24, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the City Manager's Conference Room, 200 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit: MEMBERS Roy Robertson Ray Harris John Dalri Dave Buhr Elizabeth Kaufman Larry Francis with the following members absent MEMBERS Debra Tridico Gary Humble Terry Musar LIAISONS Adam Sandy (GCISD Student) LIAISONS C. Shane Wilbanks (City Council) Becky St. John (GCISD) constituting a quorum with the following members of the City Staff: Kevin Mitchell Chris Smith Scott Hardeman The meeting was called to order at 6:01 p.m. A moment of silence was observed. Approval of Minutes Director of Parks & Recreation Deputy Director Athletic Supervisor A motion was made by Elizabeth Kaufman and seconded by John Dalri to approve the June 19, 2014 minutes. Motion passed 6-0. Ayes — Roy Robertson, Ray Harris, John Dalri, Dave Buhr, Elizabeth Kaufman, and Larry Francis Nays— None Absent — Debra Tridico, Gary Humble and Terry Musar Citizen Requests Mike Morris gave information on Sister City visitors from Krems. Travis Smith, Trails Steward, reported increased volume of traffic and vandalism on trails. Katie's Woods is last project for Eagle Scout projects. There are 1.5 miles of trail that needs to be GIS, signage and mapping to come. Take a Kid Mountain Biking will be held at the trails on Saturday, October 4, from 9 AM to 1 PM. Recognition of outgoing Student Liaison Adam Sandy A plaque was presented to Adam Sandy by Roy Robertson recognizing Adam's service and contributions to the Board. Presentations — Annual Youth Sports (No Action Taken) ® Paul Mirales with GBSA presented. Background checks are run for concession stand workers. a Mark Assaad with GYCFA presented. Serves Grapevine, Colleyville and GCISD students only. Expenses heavy on uniforms, insurance and referees. Coaches are certified through Heads Up program. ® Melissa Edwards, President of GSSA, presented. Dual city Southlake and Grapevine youth through adult leagues. Ms. Edwards thanked Grapevine for field lights at Oak Grove. Mr. Edwards stated they do offer year round club portion. ® Riqui Villarreal with GYW presented. Mr. Villarreal has taken over running the association. Mr. Villarreal stated GYW strives to reach a 25-30 maximum participation. Great relationship with GHS. GYW practices days are Tuesdays and Thursdays. PARD Informational Items (No Action Taken) Scott Hardeman presented on Athletics and Baseball Tournaments at Oak Grove Park. Kevin Mitchell gave presentation on Park Projects going on and CAC construction update. Chris Smith reported on the Dove Waterpark rescue, as well as on the following two events on Friday, July 25: © Country Concert Blast (Salt Creek) at Vineyards Campground & Cabins, 6-9:45 PM; $5/per person OR $20/per vehicle ® Dove Waterpark Dive In Movie (Iron Man III); Gates open at 8 PM; $5 for residents, $7 non-residents, free for season pass holders Miscellaneous Board Items (No Action Taken) ® Keep Grapevine Beautiful — Dave Buhr reported recent meeting held at his home. KGVB is now scheduled to meet the first Monday of each month at the Bessie Mitchell House. ® GCISD Report— no report ® GCISD Student Report — Adam Sandy thanked the Board for their support. Adiourn Motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Elizabeth Kaufman to adjourn the meeting at 7:06 p.m. Motion passed 6-0.
