HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 17 - FertilizerMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: FEBRUARY 7, 2023
SUBJECT: FERTILIZER PURCHASE FOR THE GRAPEVINE GOLF COURSE
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of fertilizer for the
Grapevine Golf Course from Harrell's, LLC.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Lake Enterprise Fund (Golf) in an amount not
to exceed $29,515.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for 15 tons of a 42-0-0 fertilizer for the golf course, not to
include the greens. This is a season -long, slow -release type mix and will
be applied once, which replaces the normal practice of applying fertilizer
three times per season. The benefits of using this fertilizer include
providing a steady supply of nutrients to the grass throughout the season,
and from an operational standpoint, reduces the labor required to apply
fertilizer from three times to one time per year. This will reduce the amount
of time when portions of the golf course must be closed.
Purchases will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buy
Board) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and
Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to
Harrell's, LLC. The Golf and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for
departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that
the contract would provide the best service and pricing for meeting the
needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
