Call to Order of Regular Meeting — Chair Melva Stanfield Citizen Comments - Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Grapevine Heritage Foundation Board under Citizen Comments or on any other agenda item by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form with staff. A member of the public may address the Board regarding an item on the agenda either before or during the Board's consideration of the item, upon being recognized by the Chairman or upon the consent of the Board. In accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Board is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments. 2. Welcome — Melva Stanfield 3. Adjournment The next meeting of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation Advisory Board will be at held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 5:00 pm at the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas. David Klempin, Manager, Heritage Programs & Preservation February 15, 2023 STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF TARRANT CITY OF GRAPEVINE The Grapevine Heritage Foundation (GHF) held their regular scheduled monthly meeting at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 in the 2nd Floor CVB Boardroom of the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas 76051. Present were: Melva Stanfield Balla Wright Frances Jensen Wendy Nelson Courtney Fray Austin Kellerman Absent was: Sue Franks David Stine Duff O'Dell The above constituting a quorum, Chairman Treasurer Member Member Member Member Member Member City Council Liaison With the following Convention & Visitors Bureau staff present: Chris Laugenour Grapevine Managing Director of Operations David Klempin Heritage Preservation Programs Manager Cody Scallions Heritage Museums & Education Programs Manager Kayce Vanderpool Heritage Preservation Programs Secretary 1. CALL TO ORDER AND CITIZEN COMMENTS Chairman Melva Stanfield called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Citizen Comments - There were no citizen comments registered. Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Grapevine Heritage Foundation under Citizen Comments by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form. In accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Advisory Board is restricted in discussing or taking any action during Citizen Comments. 2. WELCOME Chairman Stanfield Welcomed the CVB staff and the GHF Board members. 3. MINUTES FOR APPROVAL Balla Wright made the motion to accept the minutes as written from the January 18, 2023 regular meeting. Frances Jensen seconded the motion, the following vote: Ayes: 6 (Stanfield, Wright, Jensen, Nelson, Kellerman, Fray) Nays: 0 None GHF February 15, 2023 February 15, 2023 4. OLD BUSINESS A. Membership Report — David Klempin David Klempin presented the membership report. The current membership has 163 active members. We received $3,125.00 in donations for January. There were 20 Renewals sent out in February. The large brick for Cody Jolliff was installed at Nash Farm. B. Sponsorship Report — Balla Wright Balla Wright reported the 2023 Nash Farm Sponsorship commitments so far are at $21,750.00 and is expecting more from Texas Farm Bureau and a few more. If you have someone that would like to sponsor please get in touch with Balla. C. Nash Farm Report — Cody Scallions Cody Scallions reported that January's First Friday program was "Chicken Noodle Soup" it was attended by 35 people; the Bacon and Sausage workshop was attended by 11 people; BASS group had 17 special needs students; casual was 787, overall for January was 808. February's First Friday was canceled due to the Ice Storm. The Valentines activity was attended by 249, with total visitors so far in Feb. of 280. 5. NEW BUSINESS A. GHF Committees and Appointments- Melva Stanfield Melva Stanfield said she would like to have 2 to 3 members on each committee depending on the amount of work, the committees would include: Membership Committee and Community Outreach - News Letter Committee- Scallions said that we have a news letter ready to go out; Nash Farm Committee- Wright, Stine, Dingemanse, Ratilff, Scallions, Prack; Palace Committee- Jensen, Fray, Franks- Looking to partner with down town businesses (Free Small Popcorn with a meal). Calendar Committee- Fray and Nelson B. Spring Fundraiser Dinner- Cody Scallions and Balla Wright Cody and Balla presented the report on the fundraiser event. Local musician Justin Mason will be the entertainment for the evening. Dinner will be in the Ratliff Pole Barn with a talk about the purpose of the GHF; with PowerPoint of Spring into Nash with photos and other events; They want to share the history of raising $800,000.00 for the Nash Farmhouse restoration. C. Nash Farm Upcoming Events and Activities — Cody Scallions Cody reported the upcoming events; March 3, First Friday 10-12 "Spring on the farm" March 3, Rail Road 101 Employees training session; March 14-17 Section Forman Camp GVRR all things railroad with activities and crafts; March 25 Biscuits and Butter Workshop, 9 am till 12pm; April 7, First Friday 10-12 "Easter Party"; April 22, Spring into Nash, 10-2 an All Hands Effort; April 29, Spring Fundraiser and dinner; 2 GHF February 15, 2023 February 15, 2023 6. LIAISON REPORTS A. Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau Liaison Report — Chris Laugenour Chris Laugenour reported the new hires to the CVB include the new Director of Communications, Elizabeth Schrack; who is to start Feb. 27; a new Director of Marketing and Brand Management, Dana Fairbanks to start soon. We also have a new Festival and Events Team position titled Special Events and Programs Manager, Jamie Faschingbauer to start March 6; a new Festival and Events Manager of Events 2, Stephen Phillips to start March 6. B. City Council Liaison Update — Duff O'Dell Council Member Duff O'Dell is on a mission in Austin, TX. Chris Laugenour gave a report from the City Council meeting. The Velvet Taco is open. The council approved to hire a company to do schematic designs of the Concourse and former Pro Shop Building to be renovated. Where the Golf Shop was there is a plan to make it an open area for weddings and other events. Reminder: the 25th of February is the Historic Preservation Training. Vice Chairman Frances Jensen reported on the Palace Theater. The lights outside and front doors need some repairs. Mr. Klempin said the doors were originally designed by Architexas to replicate the original doors from1940's . Our next meeting is scheduled for March 15. The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) convention plan to dedicate a plaque at the Torin Cabin at 2 pm March 15. Balla Wright commented that this board and this meeting are the best she has heard in a long time, everyone is onboard with something and praise the lord. 7.
