SUBJECT: ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR POLICE EQUIPMENT, ACCESSORIES AND
AMMUNITION
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of an annual contract for police
equipment, accessories and ammunition from Precision Delta Corp for the
Police Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (Police Department) for an
annual estimated amount of $35,000.
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this contract is to purchase ammunition for the Police
Department's training and qualifications. The Department annually
purchases thousands of rounds of both 9mm and 223 ammunition to
maintain proficiency with firearms. Due to an ammunition shortage, the
Department must purchase ammunition when available to maintain
sufficient inventory. The maintenance of Department inventory allows for
continued training and state -mandated qualifications.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buy
Board) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and
Texas Government Code, Chapter 791. The contract is for an initial one-
year period.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to
Precision Delta Corp. The Police and Purchasing staff reviewed the
contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and
determined that the contract would provide the best service and pricing for
meeting the needs of the City.
