HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 08 - Service CenterMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: FEBRUARY 21, 2023 SUBJECT: RATIFICATION OF PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT FOR GRAPEVINE SERVICE CENTER UPGRADES RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider ratification of a pre -design and design scope contract for the Grapevine Service Center upgrades with Brown Reynolds Watford Architects. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Project General Facilities Fund in the estimated amount of $247,500. BACKGROUND: Due to the recent tornadic event on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 the Grapevine Service Center received substantial damage and the majority of the structure is uninhabitable. Due to the urgency of the situation, staff signed a professional services proposal with Brown Reynolds Watford Architects on January 20, 2023 to provide pre -design and design scope for roof repairs, concept, schematic design phases and enhanced service center programming. Services include: -Design of repairs and upgrades to the existing roof and storm damaged structure to meet current Building Code requirements. -Pre-design (concept) services including an assessment of operational needs and per square foot probable cost exercises -Schematic Design including space allocation, circulation, safety issues and the integration of building structure and mechanical/electrical system and establish budget and support of procurement of a Construction Manager at Risk contract. The Cost for these services is $247,500 and expected project schedule is 12 weeks. Staff has briefed the Facilities Committee on this work effort and will provide ongoing updates on the progress. Staff recommends approval.
