Your experience, honesty & energetic leadership have built a strong foundation for Grapevine's success. do . A A positive legacy of leadership for Grapevine: Mayor of Grapevine • Former City Attorney • Former City Councilman • President, Crime Prevention District • President, 4B Economic Development Board • Fort Worth Star -Telegram Best of Best Local Government Official Rotary Club • Masonic Lodge • Citizen of the Year • Who's Who in Texas • Boy Scouts of America Silver Eagle Award • Southern Living Magazine — Great Southern • ACU Parent of the Year • Grapevine High School Hall of Fame • GCISD Walk of Honor • Ted Willhoite Legacy award • Fort Worth Builders Association Lifetime Achievement Award • Texas Travel Industry Hospitality Development Award • Texas Hotel & Motel Association Hospitality Hero Award • Former member, North Texas Commission Board • Former Baylor Medical Center Board of Trustees • BBA in Accounting from University of North Texas • .Law degree from University of Houston I Safe neighborhoods While other suburban cities are dealing with robberies and violent crime, Mayor Tate's no-nonsense approach to public safety and support for our police officers has largely kept big city crime problems away from our families. And, while his opponent was demanding the city allow short-term rentals and loud, late -night party houses in our neighborhoods, Mayor Tate listened to our families and voted against allowing outsiders from destroying our peace and quiet. A strong economy When the COVID pandemic threatened to derail our prosperity, Mayor Tate rolled up his sleeves and worked closely with the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, Chamber of Commerce and business leaders to keep our economy humming. Under his leadership, the "Grapevine Open" marketing campaign was launched to encourage citizens and visitors to shop and dine in our city — and protect our mom-and-pop businesses and the thousands of jobs they support. Efficient City Hall Mayor Tate's has used his business experience to find efficiencies at City Hall, cutting unnecessary spending and making sure our limited tax revenue was spent on important city services like roads, parks, police services and fire protection. His commitment to taxpayers has helped keep Grapevine's property tax rate the second lowest in Texas among comparable cities so homeowners can keep more of their hard-earned money.
