SUBJECT: EMERGENCY PURCHASE - TORNADO CLEAN-UP RESTORATION
SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval and ratifying the emergency
purchase of tornado clean-up restoration services at the Service Center
from Mooring USA.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds will be available in the Capital Projects Facilities fund for an
amount not to exceed $202,000 upon receipt of insurance proceeds from
the City's insurance carrier.
BACKGROUND: On December 13, 2022, a tornado struck the Service Center causing
major damage. Mooring USA provided restoration and clean-up services
after the destruction caused by the tornado. Mooring USA worked at the
Service Center to remove debris and box undamaged contents.
The cost includes labor, rental equipment and materials used to box
undamaged content, remove debris, remove water from inside the
building, and overall clean-up.
Staff anticipates full reimbursement from the City's insurance carrier for
the cost of restoration.
This procurement will be made as an emergency in accordance with Local
Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, § 252. 022. General
Exemptions ( a)( 2).
Staff recommends approval.
