SUBJECT: REPLACEMENT AND INSTALLATION OF A VACTOR TRUCK ENGINE
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the replacement and installation of
an engine for unit #31404 from Southwest International Trucks for the
Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund for an amount not to exceed
$45,515.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for the replacement and installation of an engine for unit
#31404. This vehicle is one of the vactor (vacuum) trucks used daily for
sanitary sewer cleaning and water/sewer line repairs and excavations.
Replacement of the engine is the most cost effective and timely solution; a
replacement truck will cost approximately $300,000 and take at least one
year for delivery.
This purchase will be from Southwest International Trucks and will be
made as a sole source purchase in accordance with Local Government
Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, §252.022. General Exemptions (a)(7)
(3).
Staff recommends approval.
