FUNDING SOURCE: Not Applicable BACKGROUND: Asbestos cement pipe was widely used in the late 1950s until the early 1970s. Vitrified clay pipe was some of the most early used sanitary sewer pipe in the City. It is a good product but brittle and prone to roots and soil movement. It was used until PVC became recognized as a better product with longer life and easier installation. Staff has not allowed these products in our system for many years. In a review of our Code of Ordinances, we found these materials listed as options for new development. Staff seeks to strike these from the City's Code of Ordinances. Staff recommends approval.
