Citizen Comments Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board under Citizen Comments or on any other agenda item by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form with the staff. A member of the public may address the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board regarding an item on the agenda either before or during the Board’s consideration of the item, upon being recognized by the Chairman or upon the consent of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments. Approval of Minutes A motion was made to approve the March 23, 2023 meeting minutes. Motion: Robertson Second: Cowans Ayes: Ross, Light, Nichols, McDowell, Cowans, Musar, White, Robertson Nays: None Absent: Fenton Approved: 8-0 Citizen Comments None - Introduction of Thomas from Grapevine High School for Government class. New Business A discussion of post -holiday park clean-up efforts was led by Chris Smith. Board members and staff brainstormed ideas to address the influx of litter and debris at parks post -holidays. Chris indicated that the goal is to create awareness and engagement throughout the community with the hope of empowering park users to help aid in efforts to help keep parks clean. The following Adopt -An -Area Agreement was reviewed: Summit Climbing Yoga & Fitness A motion was made to approve the new Adopt -An -Area agreement. Motion: Robertson Second: Light Ayes: Ross, Light, Nichols, McDowell, Cowans, Musar, White, Robertson Nays: None Absent: Fenton Approved: 8-0 The following Adopt -An -Area Agreement was reviewed: Grapevine Chamber of Commerce (Young Professionals) A motion was made to approve the new Adopt -An -Area agreement. Motion: Musar Second: Nichols Ayes: Ross, Light, Nichols, McDowell, Cowans, Musar, White, Robertson Nays: None Absent: Fenton Approved: 8-0 The following Adopt -An -Area Agreement was reviewed: Gassett Family A motion was made to approve the new Adopt -An -Area agreement. Motion: White Second: Robertson Ayes: Ross, Light, Nichols, McDowell, Cowans, Musar, White, Robertson Nays: None Absent: Fenton Approved: 8-0 Presentations April Rogers provided an update on marketing and social media forthe department. GCISD Student Liaison Update Aubrey Alexander was absent; therefore, no update was given. GCISD Board Liaison Kathy Spradley provided an update for GCISD. Updates included Lady Mustangs Soccer, Teacher Appreciation Awards Luncheon, GCISD Walk a Mile, April 24 Board Meeting, and staff updates. Citv Council Laison Update 2 Paul Slechta provided an update for City Council. Updates included Main Street Fest preparations and the closing of Sam's Club. Parks and Recreation Update Chris Smith provided a Parks and Recreation update. Updates included a Prehistoric Park event recap, Don't Mess With Texas Trash -Off, Grapevine Lake Celtic Heritage Festival and Highland Games, Mystery in the Park, Spring Into Nash, The REC Turf Field replacement, The REC Membership Appreciation Day, and park closings for events and maintenance. Trent Kelley provided an update, which included the Club All -Access production and the Mother Daughter Tea Party.
