HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-05-02The Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Grapevine, Texas, met in a special workshop session, Monday, May 2, 1983, at 7:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 413 Main Street. The following members of the Con -mission were present, to wit: Sharron Spencer Ron Cook Harlen Joyce Tom Powers Klee Hawkins Gerald Norman Chairman Vice Chairman Member Member Member Member constituting a quorum, with no absences, and the following City Staff, to wit: J.R. Baddaker Tommy Hardy Steve Richardson Joy Welch warmoxg4m Director of Public Works Building Official City Planner Secretary Chairman Spencer called the meting to order at 7:00 P.M., explaining the procedures and purposes of the meting. IS2635034i" The first item was for the Commission to consider amendments to Comprehensive Zoning Ordinances 70-10 and 82-73, for the purpose of making a recommendation to the City Council. Chairman Spencer led a discussion relative to the proposed amendments. Gerald Norman seconded the motion which prevailed by the following vote: Ayes: Spencer, Cook, Joyce, Powers, Hawkins and Norman Nays: None The next item for consideration by the Commission was the proposed updating of the Master Plan Land Use Map. Following a brief discussion relative to the Master Plan Land Use Map, due to the late hour, Klee Hawkins made a motion to table further discussion of such to a later meting. Gerald Norman seconded the motion which prevailed by the following vote: Ayes: Spencer, Cook, Joyce, Powers, Hawkins and Norman Nays: None ivy 11064 am W.3111. The Commission discussed the various types of signs in considering amendments to the present sign ordinance. The general consensus of the Commission was to eliminate flashing signs. There was a brief discussion relative to the allowable height of bill- boards. Mr. Hardy discussed the rules relative to signs which advertise housing developments. Following further discussion, the consensus of the Commission was to table this item until a future meeting when it could be more thoroughly reviewed. Chairman Spencer advised that Tranmel Crow, a developer, had requested that the Commission hear his plans for a zone -change request prior to submitting a preliminary site plan. The Commission's general consensus was to deny a special meting with Mr. Crow as well as future similar requests and review the preliminary plat at regularly scheduled meetings. Mr. Baddaker requested input from the Commission relative to funds to be appropriated for their budget. The general consensus was to have funds budgeted to attend the Texas Planning Association Meeting.
