HomeMy WebLinkAbout1980-06-17STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF TARRANT CITY OF GRAPEVINE The Planning & Zoning Commission of the City of Grapevine, Texas met in special session on this the 17th day of June, 1980 at 7:00 P.M. in the Conference Room - 413 Main Street with the following members present to -wit: Duane Rogers Chairman Ron Cook Member Robert Sands Member Sharron Spencer Member Gerald Norman Member constituting a quorum with Commissioners Harlen Joyce and Harold Anderson absent with City Engineer, J. R. Baddaker, P.E. and Betty Gilbreath, Secretary in attendance. leaaamm�.�� Chairman Duane Rogers called the meeting to order. ELECTION OF OFFICERS The first order of business was for the Planning & Zoning Commission to elect officers for 1980-81. Member Gerald Norman made a motion to re -appoint Duane Rogers as Chairman. The motion was seconded by Member Ron Cook and prevailed by the following vote: AYES : Cook, NAYS : None ABSTAINED : Rogers ABSENT : Joyce Spencer, Sands, and Norman and Anderson. The next order of business was for nominations for Vice - Chairman. Chairman Rogers declared that nominations were in order for Vice -Chairman. Member Ron Cook made a motion to nominate Sharron Spencer. The motion was seconded by Member Gerald Norman and prevailed by the following vote: AYES : Cook, Sands, Norman and Rogers NAYS : None ABSTAINED : Spencer ABSENT : Joyce and Anderson ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Commission, Member Robert Sands made a motion, seconded by Member Ron Cook to adjourn. ZONING APPLICATION Z80-18, GIBSON'S The first order of business was for the Planning and Zoning Commission to consider Zoning Application Z80-18 submitted by Gibson's Products Company and make a recommendation to the City Council. It was announced that the application had been withdrawn dur- ing the joint public hearing upon the request of the applicant. ZONING APPLICATION Z80-24, BOB TAYLOR REAL ESTATE The next order of business was for the Planning and Zoning Commission to consider Zoning Application Z80-24 submitted by Bob Taylor Real Estate and make a recommendation to the City Council. Following a short discussion, Member Gerald Norman made a motion to grant the application as requested for the area north and east of the proposed northern boundary of State Highway 360, with the remaining property to retain the existing zoning, with an additional provision that the building permit would have to be issued within one year from the effective date of the ordinance. The motion was seconded by Member Sharron Spencer and prevailed by the fol- lowing vote: Ayes Rogers, Cook, Sands, Spencer, and Norman Nays None Absent Anderson and Joyce ZONING APPLICATION Z80-25, GER-RON JOINT VENTURE The next order of business was for the Planning and Zoning Commission to consider Zoning Application Z80-25 submitted by Gerald Thompson and make a recommendation to the City Council. Member Robert Sands made a motion to recommend a Specific Use Permit for multi -family construction with the follow- ing provisions: A. Structure to consist of 60a exterior masonry B. Minimum six foot (6') screening fence on the south and west property lines abutting single family zoning. The motion was seconded by Gerald Norman and prevailed by the following vote: Ayes Sands, Norman, and Rogers Nays Spencer and Cook Absent Anderson and Joyce ZONING APPLICATION Z80-26, JOHN WEIL The next order of business was for the Planning and Zoning Commission to consider Zoning Application Z80-26 submitted by Mr. John Weil and make a recommendation to the City Council. Following a short discussion, it was the general concensus of the Commission that the requested commercial zoning was not compatible with existing zoning in the area in question. Member Robert Sands therefore made a motion that the request be denied. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Sharron Spencer and prevailed by the following vote: Ayes Rogers, Cook, Sands, Spencer, and Norman Nays None Absent Anderson and Joyce FINAL PLAT - THE WOODS, PHASE II The next order of business to come before the Planning and Zoning Commission was to consider the Final Plat of the Woods, Phase II and make a recommendation to the City Council. Member Robert Sands made a motion recommending approval of the final plat. Member Gerald Norman seconded the motion and it prevailed by the following vote: Ayes Rogers, Cook, Sands, Spencer, and Norman Nays None Absent . Anderson and Joyce FINAL PLAT , GRAPEVINE REGIONAL INDUSTRIAL PARK PLAT The next order of business to come before the Planning and Zoning Commission was to consider the Final Plat of the Grape- vine Regional Industrial Park and make a recommendation to the City Council. Member Gerald Norman made a motion recommending approval of the final plat. Member Robert Sands seconded the motion and it prevailed by the following vote: Ayes Rogers, Cook, Sands, Spencer, and Norman Nays None Absent Anderson and Joyce MINUTES OF MAY 20, 1980 The next order of business was consideration of the Minutes of May 20, 1980. Member Robert Sands made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes and approve them as printed. The motion was seconded by Member Ron Cook and prevailed by the following vote: Ayes Rogers, Cook, Sands, Spencer, Norman Nays None Absent Anderson, Joyce ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Commission, Member Robert Sands made a motion, seconded by Member Ron Cook, to adjourn.
