SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF A SAND PRO MODEL 5040 FOR THE PARKS AND
RECREATION DEPARTMENT
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of a sand pro model
5040 from Professional Turf Products for the Parks and Recreation
Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Replacement Fund (Parks) for a total
amount not to exceed $35,055.
BACKGROUND: This is for the purchase of the sand pro model 5040 for Athletics Parks
Maintenance which will serve as a replacement for the existing inoperable
machine. The current equipment has suffered significant engine damage
due to prolonged use and the unavailability of discontinued parts. The
Sand Pro Model 5040 is intended for dirt maintenance on baseball and
softball fields across various sports complexes within the City. This
purchase will ensure the upkeep and improvement of these fields,
ultimately enhancing the overall sporting experience for our community.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buy
Board) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and
Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to
Professional Turf Products. The Golf Course and Purchasing staff
reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and
pricing and determined that the contract would best meet the needs of the
City.
Staff recommends approval.
