The Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau Board of Directors met in Regular Session on
Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 8:00 a.m. at the Stephen W. Stinson Boardroom of the Grapevine
Convention and Visitors Bureau, 636 S. Main Street, Grapevine, Texas with

CALL TO ORDER
Council Member Sharon Rogers was recognized for her fifteen years of devoted service to the
Convention and Visitors Bureau. Council Member Leon Leal was also recognized as the

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion by Dan Weinberger and seconded by Mike Oakley, the minutes from the May 18, 2023
meeting were approved.

Paul W. McCallum introduced Emily Mead as the Sponsorship Sales Manager.
SALES AND MARKETING REPORT
Mrs. Lyons shared that National Travel and Tourism Week, celebrated May 7 — 13, was
recognized by Mayor William D. Tate and the City Council with a proclamation that was
presented at the Council meeting held on May 2 to honor Grapevine's Hospitality Industry.
Members of the CVB Team put together a flyer that shared statistics on the far reaching impact
of tourism in Grapevine and those were delivered to hotel partners along with a personal note
of gratitude and small tokens from various Main Street merchants. The Visitor Information
Center offered complimentary tower tours at Grapevine Main during that week, as well. On
May 12, Visitor Center Staff participated in a Travel Rally Day event held at the Travel
Information Center in Denison to promote Grapevine. Multiple social media posts and a press
release went out honoring our local Hospitality Industry.
IPW was in San Antonio May 21-24. Staff, stakeholder partners, and community leaders
traveled to San Antonio to represent Grapevine. Heather Egan, Director of International Sales
and Leisure, hosted more than fifty travel trade and media representatives from Germany,
Netherlands, Canada, UK, Sweden, Australia and Mexico both pre and post IPW. During IPW
she hosted thirty appointments with tour operators to better enhance tours that currently
include Grapevine and those that are looking at adding Grapevine. Elizabeth Schrack, Director
of Communications, met with multiple media outlets to promote Grapevine. On May 24, Travel
Texas hosted a closing event. Our team partnered with Meow Wolf in an engaging and high
energy activation that garnered rave reviews.
Mrs. Lyons closed by sharing that during the 391h Annual Main Street Fest - a Craft Brew
Experience presented by Bank of the West, the Sales Team hosted nine meeting planners FAMs
and are now actively working three leads.
ONGOING BUSINESS ' Mr. McCallum then reported an overview of the 39th Annual Main Street Fest - a Craft Brew
Experience presented by Bank of the West. He expressed his gratitude for each sponsor,
partner, civic organization and volunteer. He also spoke to the dedication of the Festival Co
Chairs, Barney and Claudine Annis and praised their dedication in both preparation and servi
throughout Main Street Fest.
It was reported that more than 7,800 festival guests utilized Trinity Metro TexRail. Those riders
received a two dollar discount on festival admission. Grapevine shuttles served guests by
offering complimentary rides to and from Grapevine Library and Grapevine Mills Mail.
The Craft Brew Experience, sponsored by Karbach Brewing Company, moved to the Cotton Belt
Depot District to better accommodate the large number of guests. The Craft Brew Experience
highlighted fifty breweries from fifteen states and one hundred individual brews. Liberty Park
Plaza was the site of Taste of Texas, Brews of the Lone Star State, sponsored by Gaylord Texan
Resort. This new and ticketed event boasted specialty Texas brews only available within that
activation, live music, and a VIP area.
Hop and Sting Brewery sponsored the Town Square Gazebo Stage and had a variety of musical
guests. The Main Stage, sponsored by Arca Continental Coca Cola Southwest Beverages
showcased headliners Little Texas and Vertical Horizon among others.
The food selection was larger and more varied than ever before. Festival guests coulit,
experience Greek, Caribbean, African, Mexican and more.
The new Brews and Bites workshop, sponsored by Shannon Brewery and supported by Main
Street Bakery taught patrons how to pair signature brews with a variety of foods.
An internationally known cicerone and author from the United Kingdom, Melissa Cole, was in
festival.
Family events and activations specific to children were present throughout festival grounds. An
exciting addition was the rock climbing wall which was a collaborative activation with Parks and
Rec on Wall Street. Chicken N Pickle hosted an installation of pickle ball courts on Hudgins
Street and hosted many games including a Brew in Hand event which proved quite popular.
and activities by Legoland and Peppa Pig. Staffing for Kid Zone was provided by two community
partners, 121 Community Church and Paycom. There was a kid -centered circus workshop
which taught the youngest of festival guests simple circus tricks. House of Shine showcased a
Young Entrepreneurs Market where young business owners sold their goods.
Meow Wolf had on traveling activation that walked throughout festival grounds greeting
guests. They also partnered with the Grapevine Art Project and promoted individual artists
showcasing their work at Foust Funeral.
More than twenty civic, service and school organizations participated. The estimate is that
there were over six thousand hours logged by volunteers. The Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
had a robust turnout.
The rain on Friday benefited merchants on Main Street as it pushed guests off of the street ad
into shops and restaurants. Merchants reported strong sales with two wineries reporting
record -breaking festival sales. Vendors on the street confirmed that sales were robust enough
both Saturday and Sunday to make up for any perceived loss from Friday.
An overview of July 4' Independence Day activities was presented. The Fireworks Extravaganza
at Grapevine Lake and the concert at Liberty Park Plaza by the Southwest Bluegrass Club, along
with other complimentary activations were highlighted.

has been very successful. The summer specific schedule and three routes were reviewed.

Mr. McCallum shared an update on the Christmas Capital of Texas. In February CVB Staff
debriefed with other departments within the city and identified specific areas for further study,
In April another meeting was held to focus on a plan to create a consistent theme along the
entirety of Main St. A potential plan to add an additional drone show was shared by Parks &
Rec. This third show would ideally be at City Hall in an effort to bring a balance to Main St.
CV`B Staff is in the process of taking a deep dive into North Pole Express. The goal is to make -
accessing the depot platform simpler. In addition, a plan for enhancing the preboarding
experience with lights and music is in review. There is also discussion on adding more retail
experiences in the North Pole Village.
Peace Plaza Ice Rink will return to Grapevine Main Plaza, along with the live Christmas tree.
Initial plans include adding more performances to take place at Peace Plaza Ice Rink. As the
Christmas Capital of Texas continues to grow, there is also a plan to increase the funds into
outer markets for marketing and promotion. Finally, CVB Staff has committed that Christmas

Mrs. Lyons shared a few of the recent happenings in Grapevine. Dallas Fort Worth International
Airport is in the process of opening four new businesses. SEA LIFE Aquarium hosted Meet a
Mermaid activations where guests had the opportunity to meet a mermaid and have a
mermaid makeover. NewCrestlmage joined a venture with Coury Hospitality and now owns a
stake in Hotel Vin. Chairman Szymaszek shared that Meow Wolf will open on July 14 with
tickets already on sale. He added that Arhaus Loft is set to open at Grapevine Mills Mail on June
30 with the North Face Outlet, Pandora and Hey Dude Outlet following soon after.
