A member of the public may address the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board regarding an item on the agenda either before or during the Board’s consideration of the item, upon being recognized by the Chairman or upon the consent of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments. IN ACCORDANCE WITH TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE, CHAPTER 551.001 et seq, ACTS OF THE 1993 TEXAS LEGISLATURE, THE BOARD MEETING AGENDA, WAS PREPARED AND POSTED ON THIS 12th DAY OF MAY 2023 AT 5:00 P.M. _______ ______________________________ Chris Smith, Director of Parks & Recreation CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met May 18, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at The RE of Grapevine located at 1175 Municipal Way, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit: MEMBERS Christian Ross Lavon Light Kelley McDowell Terry Musar Amond Cowans Roy Robertson ABSENT: Rob Fenton Morgan Nichols Matthew White LIAISONS Paul Slechta —City Council Aubrey Alexander — GCISD Student Liaison (Absent) Kathy Spradley— GCISD Board Liaison (Absent) Constituting a quorum with the following members of City staff: Chris Smith, Director Lara Brown, Administrative Manager Christian Ross called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. A moment of silence was observed followed by the invocation led by Christian. Approval of Minutes A motion was made to approve the April 20, 2023 meeting minutes. Motion: Robertson Second: Musar Ayes: Ross, Light, McDowell, Cowans, Musar, Robertson Nays: None Absent: Fenton, Nichols, White Approved: 6-0 Citizen Comments None Presentations Chris Smith provided an update about plans fortrash and litter control at parks and lake parks during busy seasons and holidays. Updates included the launch of the "Litter Ends With Us" campaign, PURE Services, Memorial Day Staff Cleanup, and ongoing campaign and litter awareness plans. GCISD Student Liaison Update Aubrey Alexander was absent; therefore, no update was given. GCISD Board Liaison Kathy Spradley was absent, but Christian Ross provided an update for GCISD. Updates included the Walk a Mile recap, swearing in of new GCISD Board Members on May 22, and Senior Graduation. Lavon Light provided an update on Grapevine High School Baseball. Chris Smith provided an update regarding next steps for filling the Student Liaison position. City Council Laison Update Paul Slechta provided an update for City Council. Updates included Lady Mustangs Soccer State Championship recognition, the re-election and swearing in ofcouncilpersons Duff O'Dell and Chris Coy, wastewater and watertreatment plant projects, tornado recovery of the Service Center, and Tap In. Parks and Recreation Update Chris Smith provided a Parks and Recreation update. Updates included Bear Creek Park, C. Shane Wilban ks Trail, Katie's Woods, Sandbass Point, and Cotton Belt Trail maintenance projects, Mother DaughterTea Party recap, Father Son Field Day plans, Whoa Zone opening, budget planning, Barker RinkerSeacatThe REC of Grapevine Performance Utilization Analysis Workshop and fence projects at CJ Hutchins Park and Parkwood Park. Terry Musar requested a debrief of the annual Parks and Recreation Citizen Survey results. Chris Smith confirmed an overview would be presented at the July 2023 Parks and Recreation board meeting.
