1. Call to Order of Regular Meeting — Chair Melva Stanfield
Citizen Comments - Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Grapevine
Heritage Foundation Board under Citizen Comments or on any other agenda item by completing a
Citizen Appearance Request form with staff. A member of the public may address the Board
regarding an item on the agenda either before or during the Board's consideration of the item, upon
being recognized by the Chairman or upon the consent of the Board. In accordance with the Texas
Open Meetings Act, the Board is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments.

The next meeting of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation Advisory Board will be at held on
Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 5:00 pm at the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, 2"d Floor
Boardroom, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas. If you plan to attend this public meeting and
have a disability requiring special arrangements, please contact the Office of Historic Preservation
at 817-410-3185 at least 24 hours in advance. Reasonable accommodations will be made to assist
your needs.
In accordance with Texas Government Code, Chapter 551.001 et seq. Acts of the 1993 Texas
Legislature, the Grapevine Heritage Foundation Meeting agenda was prepared and posted by the

The Grapevine Heritage Foundation (GHF) held their regular scheduled monthly meeting at 5:00 p.m.
on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 in the 2nd Floor CVB Boardroom of the Grapevine Convention &
Visitors Bureau, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas 76051. Present were:

Chairman Melva Stanfield called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
Citizen Comments - There were no citizen comments registered.
Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Grapevine Heritage Foundation
under Citizen Comments by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form. In accordance with t
Texas Open Meetings Act, the Advisory Board is restricted in discussing or taking any action durinj
Citizen Comments.
Chairman Stanfield suggested we approve the minutes from the Mav 17, 2023 meeting. Balla
Wright made a motion to approve the Minutes as written from the May 17, 2023 regular
meeting. Frances Jensen seconded the motion.

Chairman Stanfield shared that there was a special reception held Friday, June 23, 2023 at
the Lancaster Theatre to recognize our own GHF Board Member, Frances Jensen for 10
great years of introductions of the movies and volunteering. She was presented with a
personalized brass plate to be placed on her own personally selected seat, a framed poster
and mini Oscar for the "Best Movie Introductions". David Klempin was the MC and made the
presentation, others spoke about her good work and dedication to the Palace Theatre.
Frances Jensen said it was a big surprise and a great night and she felt the support of all that
came out including many of her regulars. All applauded this accomplishment.
A. Membership Report — David Klempin
David Klempin presented the membership report. The current membership has 164 activQ
members. May donations total $9,525.00; from Main Street Fest a $500.00 donation, a
$100.00 Nash Farm Brick, a $50.00 donation in Memory of Pat Stinson a Emerita GHF Board
Member and $8,875.00 donation from Sharron Rogers to GHF for the purchase a Histori#
Studebaker Wagon to be displayed and used in educational programs at Nash Farm.
B. Sponsorship Report — Balla Wright

C. Nash Farm Report — Melva Stanfield
Melva Stanfield reported that May's First Friday "Tools of the Trade" was attended by 103
people; Nash Farm had 4 groups equaling 98 visitors; 7 tours have brought in 563 students;
Homeschool day had 227 participants; one rental for a birthday party of 73 guests; Casual
visitation for May is 922 bringing it to a total of 1986 visitors. Nash Farm had 144 volunteer
hours.
June's First Friday theme was "Music Makers" it was attended by 140 people; 8 tours brought
453 students; Dairy Day had 159 guests; Casual visitation for June to date is 702;
Homeschool day had 70 attendees and three more tours are expected.
Austin Kellerman asked when the new Studebaker Wagon will be displayed. Mr. McCallum
said it will likely be in 2024 when the Agricultural Vehicle Display Extension has been
completed.

D. Grapevine Heritage Foundation Brochure Report — Frances Jensen
Frances Jensen reported that the June GHF Brochure meeting was canceled due to
members busy schedules. They are working on the brochure, she said Courtney Fray had
asked about getting the original word document of text for the layout. She said they are
working to find a time to meet the first week of July if possible.
E. 2024 Calendar Committee Report — Melva Stanfield
Chairman Stanfield reported that they need to set up a new meeting date, the June meeting
was canceled due to committee members schedules,
David Klempin presented three items for accession as a donation from the Grapevine
Historical Society. There are three items they want to donate to the Grapevine Heritage
Foundati,,sut,
The first item presented was for the Grapevine Vintage Railroad Collection, a framed Cotton
Belt Depot ink and watercolor by artist Larry Bridges. It represents the older Depot and Puffy
the engine painted from a 1920s photo of the 1888 Cotton Belt Route. It is a signed print,
matted, framed then hand signed. This item could be a great addition to the Depot.
The second item is a 1920's Quilt in superb condition. As appraised by Kimberly Prack, it
demonstrates the patterns and colors used in the 1920s. This item could be on display as
an educational tool and placed in the bedroom of the Historic Nash Farm House.
The third item is a Dinner Bell used on the farm of Harvey and Judy Forbes. The old
farmhouse is now located at the corner of College and Church Street. The bell was safely
stored in the 1970's when the farm was sold. It is 14 inches in diameter, it comes with the
yolk, crank, bowl clapper, and the upright, all the items needed to put it back in working
order. It is in excellent condition and could be used at Nash Farm.
Austin Kellerman made a motion to accept the items presented for accession, Balla Wright
seconded the motion.
The items were approved for accession with the following vote:

Mr. McCallum gave a brief report on the Main Street Festival. He said the event was over a
long weekend (full Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and was a successful event. He said
events are coming back stronger since Covid-1 9.
It rained on Friday but the Main Street Businesses reported that their business was boosted
because the people came into the restaurants and businesses during the rain and stayed
and purchased items. Businesses on Main Street reported largest sales for a Main Street
Festival so far.
Denton Bricker the Festival and Events Director and his team along with the Steering
Committee came up with some new fun and successful ideas, This year they split up the
Craft Brew into two experiences, one was at the Cotton Belt Depot under a large structure
with 50 breweries from 15 states, The other one was the Taste of Texas at Liberty Park with
17 small Texas breweries offering a separate VIP area. They also added a Brews and Bites
pairing, Circus School for 6-12-year olds to learn circus acts, Chicken N' Pickle Ball Courts,
and the new addition of 4 different Ethnic Street Food Truck options; South America,
Caribbean, African, Middle East.
The CVB marketing department promoted the Grapevine Brand by reaching out to many of
the communities within 150 miles from the DFW area (Houston, Austin, Midland, Lubbock,
San Antonio, Odessa, Lawton, Oklahoma City, Shreveport to name a
Chris Laugenour reported that the 1905 Nash Farm it will be getting a new wood shingle
roof as soon as the contractor bids are completed.
The Nash Equipment Shed Extension drawings are being finalized, with the next step to get
quotes from the contractors. The Barn and the Ice House are getting the fire suppression
systems installed to keep the historic buildings protected for future generations.
The Palace Theater is having a new lighting control system installed this week. The Ware
Brothers are scheduled to paint the front of the building. The front theater doors are going
to be repaired, a contractor was selected who can repair them one at a time. They will be
the same doors restored.
David Klempin said that Chris Laugenour is doing a great job getting these bids and the
r ,,epairs completed and done correctly. Frances Jensen said she is excited to get all the
projects finished at the Palace.
B. City Council Liaison Update — Duff O'Dell
No report was given.
The next regular meeting of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation is scheduled for July 19, 2023.

At 5:39 p.m. David Stein made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Francis Jensen seconded
the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 5:39 p.m. with the following vote:
