Replace rotted wood ADA access door with a new wooden door to be painted in existing black color; 2. Install a new 7' x 7' Rubbermaid resin storage shed in the rear of the existing Carriage House; 3. Replace rotted wood on the Carriage House as needed with wood to be painted with existing colors; 4. Add two new metal handrails on each side of the steps leading to the side entrance to the building; as per the attached drawings with the condition a permit is obtained from the Building Services Department. An approved Certificate of Appropriateness is not an approved building permit; a building permit is / is not required. Janice Williams Onsite meeting attended by: Janice Williams IPAT office manager; David Klempin Historic Preservation Officer (HPO); Kayce Vanderpool; Historic Preservation Staff HPO David Klempin and Historic Preservation Staff met with Janice Williams to talk through options for many different items that need attention. The first item was the back door, attached to the ADA ramp. It needs to be wood and the door must open out for emergencies. An awning over the back door could be approved with a Certificate of Appropriateness application (CA) and would require a Building Permit. The next item was a storage shed for garden and yard maintenance supplies. Mr. Klempin agreed that a 10'X10' or smaller shed could be approved with a Certificate of Appropriateness application (CA). To be placed in the rear of the Carriage house. To be placed a minimum of 6 feet from the side or rear property line and 10 feet from other structures. The Carriage House requires attention to the siding and the wood trim around the doors and windows along with paint. Mr. Klempin said that if they remove the aluminum siding it would reveal the original wood siding underneath and they could repair the rotted wood and sand and repaint it moving forward. The side of the main house facing the parking lot on Main Street could have a business sign placed on it. The current sign near the street could be lighted. Another idea suggested by Mr. Klempin was to replace the current fence along the city lot with a picket fence and speak to the city about maintaining their side of the fence. The large trees between the other neighboring lots to the side and rear of the property are a good green screen but the fence between could use some attention. No CA is required for landscaping.
