FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Utility Enterprise Fund for a total amount not to exceed $581,288. BACKGROUND: This purchase is for one 2024 MC1311 Combination Sewer truck mounted on a Western Star chassis used in cleaning sewer lines and digging. This unit will provide increased service level for the Wastewater Department helping to prevent interruption in City services. This vehicle is slated to be replaced in the FY 2024 operating budget. However, delivery of heavy vehicles (F250, F350, F450, F550, Dump Trucks and similar) are taking 12-18 months for delivery. As such, staff is proposing to advance purchase of enterprise funded vehicles prior to consideration of the FY 2024 budget since funds have been identified in the current year operating budget. This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buy Board) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791. Bids were taken by the cooperative and contracts were awarded to Lonestar Freightliner Group LLC. The Public Works Department, Fleet Services and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing for meeting the needs of the City. Staff recommends approval RB/LW
