The Grapevine Heritage Foundation (GHF) held their regular scheduled monthly meeting at 5:00 p.m.
on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 in the 2nd Floor CVB Boardroom of the Grapevine Convention is

Chairman Melva Stanfield called the meeting to order at 5:01 p.m.
Citizen Comments - There were no citizen comments registered,
Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Grapevine Heritage
Foundation under Citizen Comments by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form. I
accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Advisory Board is restricted in discuss*

Chairman Stanfield suggested we approve the Minutes from the June 21, 2023 meeting.
Balla Wright made a motion to approve the Minutes as written from the June 21, 2023 regular
meeting. Frances Jensen seconded the motion.
Ayes: 5 (Stanfield, Wright, Jensen, Nelson, Kellerman)

A. Membership Report — David Klempin
David Klempin presented the membership report. The current active membership has 165
active members. The June donations total $400.00.
Sponsorship Report — Balla Wright
Walla Wright reported the Sponsorship is currently at $22,750.00.
C. Nash Farm Report — Melva Stanfield
Melva Stanfield reported that June's First Friday "Music Makers" was attended by 140 16
tours have brought in 687 students; Dairy Day had 159 participants; Homeschool day had 70
attendees; Casual visitation for June was 872 bringing it to a total of 1928 visitors. Nash
Farm had 149 volunteer hours logged.
July's First Friday theme was "Secrets of the Museum" it was attended by 108 people; 1 tour
brought 105 students; the Ice Cream Social had 267 guests; Homeschool day had 51
attendees and 2 large groups were rescheduled due to a Heat Advisory; 5 more tours are
expected with 220 paid admissions; Casual visitation for June to date is 299.
Chairman Stanfield said the Ice Cream Social was good, and hats off to the ice cream
makers and said there were many great flavors.
Cody Scallions said that June and July are the slowest months for attendance due to the
summer hevt.
D. Grapevine Heritage Foundation Brochure Report — Frances Jensen
Frances Jensen reported that the brochure just needs tweaking and to be populated with
photos. David Klempin and Sallie Andrews are working on the photo selection. She said that
there would be a brief meeting following the board meeting.
E. 2024 Calendar Committee Report — Wendy Nelson
Wendy Nelson reported they have laid out the design and picked the theme and the pictures
and are wang on staff for the verbiage and has plans to have it ready in the fall.

David Klempin said he sent an email to the GHF Board Members with the information on the
PastForward National Preservation Conference that will be held in Washington D.C. on
November 8, 9 and 10, 2023. Registration is now open, if anyone is interested in going they
should contact David Klempin to get registered.
Duff O'Dell asked about plans for the Solar Eclipse. Mr. Scallions said that they are gearing
the experience to how they historically celebrated an eclipse and are planning some small
activities and crafts for the eclipse. Nash Farm staff has 2 ideas in mind for the eclipse event
and are researching to find more fun ideas.
Cody Scallions provided a copy of the proposed Nash Farm 2024 calendar of events for
review. He announced the First Fridays are being reduced to 9 Fridays at $5. per person.
The months cut, were due to the historically low attendance and the cost to host each event.
Home School (HSD) days are reduced to 2 exclusive HS days specialized for the HS
student's curriculum and also combining adding to the First Friday educational programming
to make it a more enriching program for all. Frances Jensen asked, how did they come u�,
with dates for Home School Days? Cody said that they looked back at previous HSD to see
which dates were best attended and most cost effective.
Cody Scallions is planning to have workshops and appreciation days for volunteers to
provide historical education, training and give back to the community.
A. Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau Liaison Report — Paul W. McCallum
Mr. McCallum gave a report on the 1905 Nash Farm Barn roof restoration. The barn will be
getting a new wood shingle roof, it will begin on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. The Community
Impact Newspaper will get media coverage on the farm to share the story with the
community. We are planning to have a Fire Suppression System installed in the barn and
the museum, We are expecting three quotes before proceeding. A Grant from festival
proceeds would cover the cost of these improvements.
Next week Tuesd.y, July 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM, is our Christmas in July launch, to sta6
sales for the North Pole Express (with 128 runs) and all thing Christmas, along with the
Palace and Lancaster events, Ice Skating Rink, the Elf Pass Ports and more. The Gaylord
Texan ICE events will go on sale also.
The ItalianCarFest is progressing and we have secured a Sponsorship from Boardwalk Auto
Group — Plano TX This is good for Nash Farm and will help expand the attendance of first-
time visitors.
The GrapeFest team and the steering committee are meeting regularly and developing new
events and activities for the festival scheduled for September 14, 15, 16 and 17, 2023.

developing a relationship with the South Australia Consul -General in Houston, Texas to
develop business opportunities.
Joe Thompson and the sales team are doing a fabulous job selling Grapevine hotels and
convention business, bringing corporations and groups to Grapevine. In the most recent
Star Report, Grapevine is leading the Metroplex in Hotel rates, with occupancy rate of 82%
across all hotels. This puts Grapevine at the top of the market, The sales team is
aggressively incentivizing the group meetings business to increase bookings.
B. City Council Liaison Update — Duff O'Dell
Councilwoman Duff O'Dell announced that Council voted on the new board and
congratulated Frances Jensen and Courtney Fray being reappointed and welcomed
Stephanie Wright to be sworn in next month. She also reported the attendance is exceeding
expectations at the new MeowWolf Experience that just opened at Grapevine Mill's Mail.
She described it as an intense artistic emersion, like walking into a painting. This is bringing
additional economic intensity to the City with more new, unique and innovative businesses
wanting to move to Grapevine.
The council will have a workshop August 8 th to review the budget for the up coming year.
The next regular meeting of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation is scheduled for August 16,
2021
At 5:41 p.m. Francis Jensen made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Balla Wright seconde*
the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 5:41 p.m. with the following vote:
