SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF A FUEL CONTROL UPGRADE FOR THE PUBLIC
WORKS FLEET DEPARTMENT
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of a fuel control software upgrade from
E.J. Ward for the Public Works Fleet Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (Fleet Department) for an
amount not to exceed $42,779.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for updated hardware and data migration of the Public
Works Fleet Division's fuel telematics system from E.J. Ward to streamline
data collection and communication for management of fleet vehicles.
This purchase will be made in accordance with existing and interlocal
agreements with Sourcewell as allowed by Texas Local Government
Code, Section 271 and Texas Government Code, Section 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to E.J.
Ward. The Public Works Fleet Department and Purchasing staff reviewed
the contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and
determined that the contract would provide the best service and pricing for
meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
