Announcement of New Texas State Library Director
Mr, Mark White begins November 1$, 2013. He has a background with TLA and LSSI.
O\Policy ManuallBoard Guidelines for Minutes 2013
Janis is pleased with this choice as Mr. White knows Texas, thanks to his TLA work in the
1990s. He is passionate about public libraries- Tex hare funding was defunded at the
state level by $71M, and it is hoped that Mr. White will be an advocate for improvement in
this area.
There was no formal action taken.
Discussion on New Services
Added after October 1st, is a new online resource of "eBooks on EBCOhost." Tutorials
are available at the library on occasion. "IndieFlix" is also now available which allows for

various online resources of the Grapevine Library is now available. An opportunity is being
scheduled to visit with a school (thanks to an invitation by a school librarian) and introduce
the library's online resources to elementary students.
