HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 24 - Service CenterMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: SEPTEMBER 19, 2023 SUBJECT: AMENDMENT NUMBER 1 TO THE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT FOR GRAPEVINE SERVICE CENTER UPGRADES RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider ratification of Amendment Number 1 to the design scope contract for the Grapevine Service Center upgrades with Brown Reynolds and Watford Architects. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Projects General Facilities Fund in the estimated amount of $817,800 BACKGROUND: Due to the tornadic storm event on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, the Grapevine Service Center received substantial damage and the majority of the structure became uninhabitable. On February 21, 2023, Council ratified a contract with Brown Reynolds and Watford for pre -design and design scope for roof repairs, concept plan, schematic design phases and enhanced service center programming in the estimated amount of $247,500. This proposed contract amendment covers the remainder of the design services necessary to complete the project, including construction documents and bidding documents for: - Structural engineering - Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing engineering - Limited Civil engineering - Technology design services including access control and video surveillance systems and audio visual equipment selection and specification - Fueling system and Maintenance Facility equipment - Response to submittals and request for clarification - Furniture selection - Building commissioning services - TDLR Texas Accessibility Standard responses - Construction Administration The Cost for these services is $817,800 for a total of $1,065,300 and expected project schedule is 20 weeks plus time of construction. Due to timing constraints staff signed Amendment Number 1 and is seeking ratification by Council. Staff recommends approval
