January 19, 1917
On the night of January 19, 1917 the City Council of the Grapevine was called to order by the Mayor BR Wall. The following members were present JH Withrow, DD Wall, JE McCombs, Brown, Alderman. MT Chambers Marshal. CV Hale Secretary
The minutes of last meeting were read and approved with one correction.
The accumulated bills were allowed by Council and paid.
After discussion of the light situation a motion was carried to buy 100 light globes from Winfrey and Wilhoite.
Next a discussion of Main Street carried at great length when it was finally decided to have the street scarified and rolled immediately.
The question of the alley back of Grapevine National Bank was brought up. It was moved and seconded that a committee be appointed to wait upon Mr. Foust to negotiate a trade of the required ground for alley. JH Withrow, GE McCombs and DD Wall committee.
EF Brown reported on the culvert at the foot of Worth Street. A motion was carried to give TT Estill contract o build culvert as to Brown's specifications to cost $32.50.
A committee of J Withrow and ET Brown were empowered to purchase and install a fire alarm not to cos more than $15.00.
Last but not least a motion was carried empowering the Mayor to draft an ordinance regulating fruit peddlers selling fruit on streets of Grapevine. Assessing a tax of $1.00 per trip.
There being no other business the Council was adjourned to meet at next regular session
