HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 22 - Vehicle ServicesMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: OCTOBER 3, 2023 SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR SERVICE REPAIRS FOR FLEET VEHICLES RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for vehicle service repairs for fleet vehicles with Holt Cat, Sam Packs Five Star Ford, Industrial Power, Classic Chevrolet, Siddons-Martin, Inland Truck Part Company, TLR Hydraulics, Euless Wrecker Services, Grapevine Ford, and Stewart Stevens for the Public Works Department. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (Fleet) for an estimated amount of $150,000. BACKGROUND: The Public Works Fleet Department seeks to establish annual contracts for the repairs of various fleet vehicles throughout the year. We use these vendors when the scope of the repair is beyond staff expertise. This would typically included transmission or engine rebuilds in the light vehicle fleet, heavy construction equipment repairs, and fire apparatus repairs. Staff proposes to use Holt Cat, Sam Packs Five Star Ford, Industrial Power, Classic Chevrolet, Siddons-Martin, Stewart Stevens, and Grapevine Ford for various vehicle repairs including fire equipment with Siddon-Martin and Stewart Stevens, Police and other automotive equipment with Classic Chevrolet and Sam Packs Five Star Ford, and large automotive, heavy, and construction equipment with Industrial Power and Holt Cat for extensive repairs. Euless Wrecker Services is utilized for towing needs and TLR Hydraulics functions as a resource for heavy equipment hydraulic repairs. Purchase orders will be issued with each dealer on an as -needed basis. This procurement will be made as a sole source in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, § 252.022. General Exemptions (a)(2)(3)(7)(A)(D). These are for procurements necessary to preserve or protect the public health or safety of the municipality's residents, a procurement necessary because of unforeseen damage to public machinery, equipment, or other property items that are available from only one source because of patents, copyrights, secret processes, or natural monopolies and captive replacement parts or components for equipment.
