FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Utility Enterprise Fund in the estimated amount of $100,000. BACKGROUND: This ratification authorizes the installation of two, 30" valves on piping within our raw water vault supply located on the downstream side of the dam. This includes the purchase of a new 30" valve and the installation of a second 30" valve that the City has in the warehouse. The raw water vault is the diversion structure used to convey water released from the lake to the raw water pump station that feeds untreated water to the Water Treatment Plant. There is currently one valve that cannot be operated and is in need of replacing. These valves will allow for better control of the intake flows to the raw water pump station. The valve being ordered has a 16-week lead-time. Early next year the US Corps of Engineers has repairs planned to the downstream stilling basin and our valves will be replaced at the same time since the Corps will temporarily shut off all water being released from the dam structure. Rangeline Utility Services LLC is the only contractor that provided a responsive bid to this project and had the required welders to complete this work. The proposed work is estimated to be $95,472 and rounded to $100,000 for additional contingencies that may be discovered as the work commences. Staff recommends approval.
