1969, THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD AGENDA WAS PREPARED AND
POSTED ON THIS THE 17TH DAY OF DECEMBER, 1979.

The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board convened in
regular meeting at 7:30 P.M., on this the 20th day of December,
1979, with the following members present to -wit:
Ron Armstrong
Janie McCoy
Jim Swinney
Tom Walker
The following staff members were present:
Kevin Conklin, Director of Parks and Recreation
Lynne Prewitt, Superintendent of Recreation
The following visitors were present, representing pee wee football:
Craig Kelly
David Current
John Atwood
Larry Hamlin
Thomas Wiggins
The meeting was called to order by Ron Armstrong.
The invocation was given by Jim Swinney.
The minutes of the last meeting were approved unanimously.
Lynne Prewitt gave the recreation report, and told the Board that
thus far 105 children have registered for pee wee basketball.
She said that Southlake was going to enter a team for each age
group. The bleachers for Timberline will hopefully be here in
time for the first game. Men's basketball has started playing
on Wednesday nights, and Women's volleyball registration was
being held.
A presentation from the pee wee football group was made. They
requested the City's assistance and support in the future. The
areas of their concern were mainly with the Middle School Facility,
and dealt with lighting, the field surface, and concession stand
repair. After a lengthy discussion the Board told the association
that they would work with them and requested that they also seek
assistance from the Board of Education.
A review of the Archery Club was tabled.
The next item was the discussion of the bond election. The meeting
was turned over to the secretary in order that the chairman could
make the following motion: "The Parks and Recreation Board with
the blessing of the City Manager and mayor, print and distribute
pamplets and/or flyers throughout the City of Grapevine in effort
to pass the Parks and Recreation portion in the upcoming bond
election. And further appoint the Board Chairman to approach the
City Manager and Mayor to obtain permission to do so." The motion
was seconded by Jim Swinney, and passed unanimously.
The meeting was then turned back over to the chairman.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Tom Walker
and seconded by Janie McCoy that the meeting adjourn. All present
voted aye. The meeting was adjourned.
