ADJOURNMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE 6252-17, V.A.T.C.S., AS AMENDED BY CHAPTER 227, ACTS OF THE 61ST LEGISLATURE, REGULAR SESSION, 1969, THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD AGENDA WAS PREPARED AND POSTED ON THIS THE 22ND DAY OF JANUARY, 1980. PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR CITY OF GRAPEVINE X COUNTY OF TEXAS x STATE OF TEXAS x The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board convened in regular meeting at 7:30 P.M., on this the 24th day of January, 1980, with the following members present to -wit: Ron Armstrong, Chairman Janie McCoy Sue Jones Tom Walker Neal Odle Buddy Hall Jim Swinney The following staff members were present: Kevin Conklin, Director of Parks and Recreation Skip Nemitz, Superintendent of Parks The following guests were present, representing the proposed Grapevine Archery Club: Joe Carlisle Bobby Hunt The meeting was called to order by Ron Armstrong. The invocation was given by Kevin Conklin. The minutes of the last meeting were approved unanimously. Ron Armstrong opened the meeting by requesting that the board members all try to be more active in their attendance. Kevin presented the recreation report under miscellaneous reports and discussions. He gave the status on pee wee and men's basketball, and on women's volleyball. Skip Nemitz reported on the work of the parks maintenance division, and gave an update on various projects. Mr. Carlisle and Mr. Hunt made a presentation to the board regarding the proposed establishment of a random target range to be located north of the golf course, on land which the City has already under lease from the Corps of Engineers. The Grapevine Archery Club would sub -lease the land from the City. A motion was made by Buddy Hall and seconded by Tom Walker to accept their proposed and submit it to the City Council for their approval. The motion was approved unanimously. The dates for youth sports seasons were given as follows: Soccer: March 1 - May 10 Little League: May 5 - June 27 A motion was made by Buddy Hall and seconded by Tom Walker that the establishment of a Parks and Recreation Foundation be tabled until Ron Armstrong could obtain advise from a legal authority concerning its organization. The motion was unanimously approved. Under discussion items, Ron praised the work of the Grapevine Youth Sports Associations in their work to distribute information concerning the bond issue. There being no further business, a motion by Buddy Hall to adjourn was seconded by Jim Swinney. All present voted aye. The meeting was adjourned.
