IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE 6252-17, V.A.T.C.S., AS AMENDED
BY CHAPTER 227, ACTS OF THE 61ST LEGISLATURE, REGULAR SESSION,
1969, THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD AGENDA WAS PREPARED AND
POSTED ON THIS THE 8TH DAY OF APRIL, 1980.

The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board convened in
regular meeting at 7:30 P.M., on this the 10th day of April,
1980, with the following members present to -wit:
Ron Armstrong, Chairman
Sue Jones
Jim Swinney
Fred Handy
The following staff members were present:
Kevin Conklin, Director of Parks and Recreation
Lynne Prewitt, Superintendent of Recreation
Steve Lineweaver was present, representing the Grapevine 5 Pitch
League.
The meeting was called to order by Ron Armstrong.
Jim Swinney motioned that the minutes of the last meeting be
approved. It was seconded by Sue Jones. The minutes were
approved unanimously.
Under Action Items, the following business took place:
(A) Jim Swinney motioned and Sue Jones seconded that the City
officially co-sponsor the Grapevine Five Pitch League,
beginning with.the 1980 season. The motion passed
unanimously.
(B) Jim Swinney motioned and Sue Jones seconded that the City
withdraw from the Airport Cities Girls Softball Association,
and form the Grapevine Girls Slow Pitch Softball League,
beginning with the 1980 season. The motion passed unanimously.
Jim expressed his desire that the girls be able to participate
in at least some form of activities this year.
(C) Sue Jones motioned and Jim Swinney seconded that the discussion
of vacancies and appointments to the Board be tabled until
Tuesday, April 29, 1980, at 8:00 P.M. when the Board meets
again. The motion passed unanimously.
(D) Sue Jones motioned and Fred Handy seconded that the Board
recommend to the Council designating the month of May as
"Senior Citizens Month" and the month of June as "Recreation
and Parks Month" in Grapevine. The motion passed unanimously.
Under Discussion Items, the following business took place:
(A) Kevin mentioned that the Community Development Grant application
for the expansion of the Senior Building was approved locally,
and has been forwarded to HUD.
(B) The date of Saturday, May 17, 1980 was discussed as the official
"Clean-up Day in Grapevine." Ron Armstrong mentioned the
possibility of the Board participating in the activity.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Fred Handy
and seconded by Sue Jones that the meeting be adjourned. All
present voted aye. The meeting was adjourned.
