ADJOURNMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE 6252-17, V.A.T.C.S., AS AMENDED BY CHAPTER 227, ACTS OF THE 61ST LEGISLATURE, REGULAR SESSION, 1969, THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD AGENDA WAS PREPARED AND POSTED ON THIS THE 24TH DAY OF APRIL, 1980. e v PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR CITY OF GRAPEVINE X COUNTY OF TARRANT X STATE OF TEXAS X The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board convened in special meeting at 8:00 P.M., on this the 29th day of April, 1980, with the following members present to -wit: Ron Armstrong, Chairman Buddy Hall Sue Jones Neal Odle Fred Handy Tom Walker Jim Swinney Kevin Conklin, Director of Parks and Recreation, was also present. Fred Handy motioned that the minutes of April 10, 1980, be approved. Sue Jones seconded. The minutes were approved unanimously. Under Action Items, the following business took place: (A) The Board recessed into Executive Session to discuss recommendations to the Council to fill board vacancies. The names of sixteen (16) applicants were brought before the membership for discussion and evaluation. After a lengthy discussion, the Board re -convened in regular session to determine recommendations to the Council for appointment. For the three vacancies by resignation (Place 3, Sue Jones; Place 4, Janie McCoy; Place 9, Melvin McGrue), the Board nominated Mike McKinney, Arlene Dickerson, and Bobby Wise. Buddy Hall, Jim Swinney, and Fred Handy all expressed a desire to serve again. The Board concurred with their decision. These names will be given to the Council for their consideration on Tuesday, May 6, 1980. Sue Jones was presented with a plaque of appreciation by Ron Armstrong. (B) Buddy Hall motioned that the Board support May 24, 1980 as "Clean-up Day in Grapevine", and try to participate in some manner. Jim Swinney seconded. The vote was 6-0, with one abstension, that being Tom Walker. Mr. Walker mentioned that he supported the idea, but was uncertain about his availability on May 24. Under Discussion Items, the problems with Lake Grapevine were discussed. Two guests, Mr. Tom Wiggins and Mr. George Placher, were present. Kevin discussed the various problems associated with the lake, and the possible format that the City could follow in trying to find solutions for them. Fred Handy volunteered his services to assist with the project in any way he could. There being no further business, a motion by Neal Odle was made to adjourn. Tom Walker seconded.
