FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: DECEMBER 5, 2023
SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF STREET LIGHT POLES AND FIXTURES FOR
FERGUSON SUBDIVISION
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of street light poles and
fixtures for the Ferguson Subdivision from Dealers Electric for the Public
Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds for this purchase are available in the Capital Maintenance Fund
(Public Works/Traffic) for a total amount not to exceed $21,126.
BACKGROUND: The City, in new developments, is having the developer's pay for street
lighting as the development is constructed. Staff has found better pricing
and service if the fixtures (in the public rights of way) are purchased and
maintained by the City. As such, staff is recommending the purchase of
the poles and fixtures for the Ferguson development. All costs will be
reimbursed by the developer prior to the City's acceptance of the
infrastructure improvements.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buy
Board) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and
Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to
Dealers Electric. The Public Works Department and Purchasing staff
reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and
pricing and determined that the contract would best meet the needs of the
City.
Staff recommends approval
